I know, I do too. But we must have faith. This is all part of God’s plan.I hate to see this, I really do. I was hoping we would have him of sound mind and body for several years to come yet. However, I do understand his reasoning in that we do need a Pope who is capable of acting with swiftness and surety.
Now the question to my mind is will we get someone as orthodox and bold as he is. In the last conclave, the dissenters on the left and the faithful Catholics with modernist tendencies were very disappointed at his election, not to mention those in the media. This may sound harsh, but I hope they have abundant cause for consternation this time around.
I hate to lose him, absolutely hate it.
Yes, and we should all embrace and love the next Holy Spirit chosen Vicar of Christ.Love this Vicar of Christ, this disciple of Our Lord. Love him for his courage, for his dedication to do what is right.
What do you mean “suspicious”? Suspicious how? Between this and the guy wondering about the ‘end times’…this has to be a fake…there’s a world youth day this year! He had plans to visit the USA in 2014 or 2015 for a family conference i thought. This is also too suspicious…and you know the liberal religion haters, who especially hate that he refuses to change Catholic teaching…they would be celebrating in the streets…
There’s a new tradition starting. When we get a new pope, it’ll be a few months before WYDHis doctors had already told him no more transatlantic flights due to his health. Perhaps part of the timing is so that the next Pope will be able to attend World Youth Day considering how important it is to reach the youth especially in today’s world, and how much it means for World Youth Day for a Pope to attend.
Benedict is not a religious. He is a secular priest. Although his title has yet to be decided upon his retirement, most likely something like “Bishop of Rome, Emeritus”Does he now become a “retired religious”?
I’ll be the first to say that I barely understand the papacy. Does he have, like the president, a cabinet from which he can be assisted with “ideological” issues? If not, and his advanced years, sadly, show incapacitation mentally, would it then be possible to be incorrect? He is, unfortunately, equally prone to the ills of us all. Some of the greatest minds fall prey to Alzheimer’s, etc. Not suggesting that this is the present reason. Is the issue really that… earthly?
I mean, the Pope is supposed to be guided by the Holy Spirit. How can a Pope be “ideologically” incorrect? Not possible.
If they’re going to elect a younger candidate, I’d be elated to see Dolan be elevated. If they’re going with an older candidate I’d love to see Arinze elevated.Maybe the first American Pope…like Cardinal Burke or Cardinal Dolan! They are both great Catholic leaders!
Catholics: trust in the Holy Spirit!
God is still in control–He knows exactly what He is doing.
It is always amusing to see people making all the guesses to fill time on various news programs. The truth is, the Holy Spirit will guide the Lord’s Cardinals into making the proper choice, and that choice is often NOT OBVIOUS.Well, FOX News has had wall to wall coverage. So far two of the commentators have
echoed what I have said, namely, that 1. the new pope will be young (early 50’s)
and 2. non-european. One commentator suggested the Cardinal from Ghana. (Sorry I don’t remember his name.)
I would love to see Dolan the next Bishop of Rome, especially after all of the attacks on our Church from our government. If they’re going to elect a younger candidate, I’d be elated to see Dolan be elevated. If they’re going with an older candidate I’d love to see Arinze elevated.
