This pretty much sums it up.

Georg Ratzinger, 89, told the dpa news agency at his home in Regensburg that his brother had been advised by his doctor not to take any more transatlantic trips and was having increasing difficulty walking.
“His age is weighing on him,” Ratzinger said of his 85-year-old brother, Pope Benedict XVI who announced earlier in the day he would resign Feb. 28. “At this age my brother wants more rest.”

i’m speechless

who is up for fasting for the pope the conclave and the next pope 😃
Lent “is” about to begin… 🙂

Everyone should take heart in the phrase, “Be not afraid,” because the Church still belongs to Jesus. 🙂

The Holy Spirit will choose the next Pope through the Cardinals when they meet in conclave.
IMO, I don’t think this is necessarily true. Since cardinals are human, they make mistakes. There have been some popes who I don’t think were chosen by the Spirit. However, whoever is chosen is protected from teaching error.

We should keep in mind that when the Pope was elected, the Holy Spirit knew exactly how many days and hours he would serve the Church.

None of this is a surprise to the Holy Spirit. None of it! 🙂

I used to be unnerved by the “Peter the Roman” stuff. But, I have say…not anymore. Too many things just don’t add up to make it accurate.

For believers of the prophecy…did we ever even come up with a coherent explanation for Pope Benedict’s “De Gloria Olivine”?

Yeah they ultimately settled on the logo of the Benedictine Order which apparently contains an olive branch or something… whaetever…

How is this stuff not in direct contradiction with the Church? Doesn’t it predict the end of time? If so, that’s a problem because Jesus himself said that no one will know the time nor hour.

I disagree, I believe that the Holy Spirit is making the choice and guiding who will be elected. It is a given that there have been (and possibly will be again) “bad” popes, however, even these could have been chosen by the Holy Spirit to serve some purpose that may not have been known at the time. The purpose may not even be known now, and perhaps never will be until we share in the Beatific Vision.

The BBC has been at it, since the first minute the news was released. Their reasons for his resignation being: He ‘most likely’ is resigning due to the stress of his mishandling of the sex abuse scandals. Sex and scandals has been mentioned nearly every 10 minutes since! 😦
No surprises there, couldn’t even bring myself to listen to them knowing they would not miss an opportunity to attempt disgracing our Pope with their vile remarks.

It’s my understanding that the pope will be retiring to deep space to oversee work on his new battle station. He expects it to be fully operational very soon.

All is happening just as he has foreseen.

I would suggest that the new Pope will be Italian, born in Rome, and will take the name Peter.
When I first read of this prophecy, of which I am not sure whether to believe it or not, I got REALLY scared and thought to myself: “You’ve got to get going with conversion.”
I would love to see Dolan the next Bishop of Rome, especially after all of the attacks on our Church from our government.
I agree, that would be a strong and good sign in my opinion.

I guess the stress of the office was just too much for him to take. He WAS having health issues before he became pope. I guess it’s amazing he lasted as long as he did.
He will still be a strong influence. Some say he had more influence when JPII was still Pope.

As far as Cardinal Arinze, he’s no longer eligible to VOTE for pope. However, he can be ELECTED to succeed as pope.
+JMJ+
This is true. In fact any Catholic male can be elected, even a layman. (Unless the Pope changes the rules while he’s still the Pope.)
