Alienation and internment are exactly the factors that make young Muslims susceptible to radicalization. These sorts of disturbing measures will only strengthen ISIS’ numbers and their cause. If the “western values” that our governments claim to protect mean anything, we should hold to ‘innocent until proven guilty’. Until we allow meritocratic access to all levels of society to new immigrants, we will have only with hate-producing sectarianism.
It really, really worries me that the vast majority of people on these boards seem to agree with such horrendous measures as interment. You all must have been raised very differently to me.
As a resident of the UK, I would campaign for the exact opposite. Your sort of sectarianism only causes racial and religious tension - disenfranchisement that breeds radicalization. Our country is rich and capable, and I would not deny a person who has suffered the chance of a better life in a MEDC based on religion or race.
As for forcibly turning displaced young men and women into conscripted soldiers and sending them to either their deaths, or to become killers, I can think of nothing more horrendous. Haven’t they suffered enough? Regardless, that proposal is a violation of the Geneva Convention, of their free-will, and quite frankly, disgraceful. I do hope you apologize for such a statement.
