So long as I have the power to say no, I just say no.That’s how I always win…The person I’m debating is NEVER right!![]()
Bad relative to what? Moral relativists with a poor understanding of history and geography have no valid opinion on this. The problem is that the people who argue this are either intellectually deficient, ignorant or intellectually dishonest and so arguing with them is pointless. It’s like arguing with a smart mouthed 8 year old over anything.Just the other day on Youtube someone was complaining about all of the things that the Church has done in the past that were bad. I told them that the Church has apologized for those things many times. They seemed to think that wasn’t enough. All well, some people are just outright hateful.
What some people in the Church need to recognize is that these so-called “bad things of the Catholic Church” are lies. To “apologize” for something which has at times been considered a good thing for a period of years before it was transformed into “bad things” is just utterly wrong. The Church did not have to apologize for the Crusades, not even the fourth Crusade, that was something the Venetian government was suppose to do. But they’re gone, so no one can say “I’m sorry”. And we have many other things we don’t need to apologize for either, but we did because people are ignorant.Bad relative to what? Coming from a Lutheran background and a convert to the Catholic Church, I can only bow my head in disappointment regarding the continued trend of speaking positively of Martin Luther,Actually I believe the Holy Father said something positive about Martin Luther while visiting Germany the other day so I guess that must ruffle your feathers as well.![]()
I agree. But by portraying Luther in a “positive” light for Lutherans, many might want to find out more about the Church and what it really believes and stuff like that. Positive portrayals of Luther and Lutheranism through ecumenical dialogue with stuff like the JDDJ helped me find out the Catholic Church is the true church. Just saying.Coming from a Lutheran background and a convert to the Catholic Church, I can only bow my head in disappointment regarding the continued trend of speaking positively of Martin Luther,
