Gay lobby in the Vatican? I’ve never heard of it. I can’t believe they would have a separate lobby for gays and straights. Is the entrance near the rectory? 🙂

Sorry but couldn’t help myself. I read such comments online and thought they were funny.

The ‘instantaneous’ news cycle of the internet allows unprofessional, irresponsible so-called journalists to create a sensation by circulating baseless and un-researched rumors and speculation. In this case, a phrase rumored to be spoken by the Holy Father is padded with such baseless rumors and speculation, to create interest and add verbiage to the article.
It is unfortunate that Yahoo Finance News is so irresponsible that it is publishing unsubstantiated rumors first raised in La Republica, and also reporting additional rumors regarding Pope Benedict, for which no source is given.
This ‘news article’ is not even fit for the ‘National Enquirer.’ Shame on Yahoo.

I think the Holy Father has something like this in mind:

There are plenty of other sources reporting it. In fact, this talk was corroborated by the episcopal conference whose members were there.

I hope it does not cause any major chaos in the vatican. I would hate for something horrible to happen and causes a huge divide in the church

This is in response to the post from YoungTrad:
Young Trad states “There are plenty of other sources reporting it. In fact, this talk was corroborated by the episcopal conference whose members were there.” I agree with the statement that persons who met with the Holy Father heard him make the remark. However, the rest of the article from Yahoo is totally unsubstantiated. In addition, Yahoo news gives no further inquiry to find out what is meant by the term ‘gay lobby.’ I question if the Holy Father actually used those exact words, and if those words were translated correctly. Is this a group that is working to develop the Church’s outreach and understanding of homosexual individuals? Is this a group which is threatening the relationship between Christ’s Church and his homosexual brothers an sisters? The rest of the article is just rumors, and “Plenty of sources reporting it” does not validate a rumor. Let’s think clearly about this.

See my post above.

Yes, this is a tiny bit of a quote that may need more research, or may mean nothing. I read the Catholic News Report, and it is clear that the persons who heard the quote did not intend to give a verbatim report of the Holy Father’s comments.
I also hope that this does not lead to division and misunderstanding in the Church.
“Come Holy Spirit and enlighten us!”

Since the comment was not meant for publication, there was no recording of it, we cannot be sure what it means, and people are using the occasion to spread scandal and attack the clergy, I am closing the thread.

Please do not post on this subject again unless you have permission from me.
