If you decry something, take time to solve it. The Bishops and the Pope are not presenting solutions to the greater problem. Nor are they criticizing the countries exporting these refugees! When they start assigning blame and putting their necks on the line I’ll give them consideration.

You Imperialist War Monger! 😉

Instead, we should send aid to those countries that way it can be sold on the Black Market!

Even better, let’s have Four Collections during Mass to send even more of our money out of the country?

I stick with the Catholic Bishops and the Pope.

What about Mary and Joseph they were immigrants, they had to flee.
America is the richest nation in the world, and we cannot take in immigrants! How cold hearted the so called president is and his whole family! It’s all about his cult followers reason he is doing this. He is using these poor people as a bargaining chip for that dastardly WALL! We have a wall already.

Presently Trump and R-led Congress want to strip Medicare funds for his lousy wall! Let’s see how that will go over with his cult followers who desperately need Medicare.

Trump lied today through his teeth when he said he was going to issue an Executive Order. What! He doesn’t have to issue an order, he is the one person who instigated this horrible plot.

Thanks for listening. Now let’s see the comments.

Thanks for commenting. I believe the Pope is doing all he can for Catholics and then some.

What should be done then OP? Where is the government supposed to house everyone?
Also, as a thought experiment, if someone lives in a dangerous place in the US, and can’t afford to move, should that person be allowed to claim asylum in Canada?

I’m sure they did so legally. Also, Egypt was under Roman control so it probably wasn’t as dramatic as crossing between the US and Mexico :man_shrugging:t2:

The fled from one Roman province to another. Basically went from Tennessee to Ohio. They didn’t flee to a foreign nation

How many are we suppossed to take? We can’t take the entire world in. We have to have a limit and a way to decide who we admit.

What is occurring with the children is terrible. Let’s get that out of the way.

However, it is very skewed.

We aren’t being hard-hearted. We accept 1 MILLION immigrants into the US a year, more than any other developed nation. They are from all over the world, not just people who can walk here.

These people are coming in at the same rate as what we can handle legally. there are 357 million people in the US. 41 Million US citizens are below the poverty line.

Demanding that we accept 2 million new people a year–2 MILLION who have no resources and need our unwavering support is not feisable unless other countries want to give us money (and people) to do so.

I commend his actions for Catholics but he should not comment on the political policies of a sovereign nation state - especially when the comments could be seen as interference and/or promotion of a particular kind of politics. It’s interesting that Pope Francis criticises the USA but said nothing in the run up to the Irish abortion vote…

Nor did they get jobs, send money back to Judea to their family, demand Egypt provide health care and illegally participate in elections

I’d use a stronger word than ‘interesting’.
Past experience has taught me that any criticism - even positive - of the Pope results in immediate suspension. Hence my very careful words.

I agree with the Pope.
I am saddened that some Catholics here think it is ok to separate children from their parents and send them to cages in warehouses.

Where’s as criticism of Saint Donald won’t earn a suspension, it will however earn the criticism and scorn of most of the fine folk here.

None of us want this.

US citizens who are getting killed by M13 members are relying on brute tactics to deal with the nearly million people who they cannot vet and figure out what to deal with (on top of the million people they already did vet)

It’s a drastic, emotional situation for ALL people.

It’s terrible for the children most of all, but there is inordinate suffering in boarder towns for everyone.

I think you’re misrepresenting here. We take in thousands and thousands of immigrants every year who come here legally and are either productive visitors or aspiring US citizens. It is those who try to come illegally. he problem right now is that we have the greatest influx of illegal immigration in our history and we’re counting on old laws and policies that were not designed to handle it. Some want the Prettiness to solve the problem by relaxing the laws, which only creates bigger problems in local communities. Others lay he blame on past presidents for not changing the laws but nobody seems to be doing anything about it.

The left is so filled with hatred of the President, they won’t even vote on good ideas if they originated from the right. The right is filled with so much indignation at the left for wining and complaining about everything, they won’t vote on good ideas from the left.

Nothing will change until at least some of our politicians decide to do the responsible thing, instead of the left or the right thing.
