If you think so. He lost my confidence with the ridiculous tactic of using an unflattering photo. I get that from the secular media. A priest should know better.

He draws a lot of conclusions and assumptions from what is nothing. Instead of condemning silence, he should try it.

in the article, the Council of Cardinals states that “the Holy See is about to make the eventual and necessary clarifications” presumably regarding Vigano’s statement. I am glad to hear that something is forthcoming.
 
Reading the details of the homilies given in the links, to me it seems like the first certainly could be relative to the scandal (that’s what everyone assumes). To me, it feels like the last one is, as it addresses Bishops quite directly. The middle two, not so much. Its easy to look at the second one to thing it is alluding to the scandals based on the headline, but when reading the details, not so much.
 
I hope that Americans are not overly disappointed when we are not the sole, maybe not the primary, focus on reform. Not only the Pope, but the rest of the world have their own issues. Let us not forget we are 1 of 195 countries. I would think the McCarrick issue would be addressed in some way though. I know Cardinal DiNardo has asked to address this issue with the Holy Father.
 
I for one won’t be because the reforms that need to be made are centered in the Vatican as much, if not more than, in individual nations. This isn’t an “American thing.” It is a Catholic thing. The secrecy, cover ups, abuses, all of it, has happened all over the world. Some priests were known abusers that were moved over international borders by religious orders, just to abuse in that country as well. One of those priests baptized my daughter. He abused at least one child in another child in the 1970’s in a different country, was moved back to the US, moved to at least six diocese to work with Hispanic youth, and finally recalled to his home diocese last year. The church hierarchy has betrayed us. Not just the US bishops.

I would expect most Americans to be quite disappointed if we were the sole focus of any reform.

The headline is mis-leading but the article is pretty accurate from what I know. It speaks to my concerns and questions in all this.

The Pope has been so wishy/washy on theology that the bishops can due this. Please Pope Francis, address the Vigano allegations and answer the dubia questions. We need you to lead a church that is floundering!

Diocesan priest do not “swear vows of obedience”, they make a promise of obedience.
 
This article is nonsense. All of this stuff was Church discipline long before 2013. You think Bishops didn’t have authority in their Diocese until recently? That Priests didn’t make a vow of obedience?

Subsidiarity is a traditional Catholic principle, as is logic, something the article is sorely missing. As you put it, “No sense!”

Typical that you can’t take a single element of this entire article and post something relevant or pertinent to the situation. The article was not about subsidiarity and you know that. The article was chock full logic and explination of what has happened, and what may happen going forward. It identifies many of the things that I believe most of us are struggling with about what has been going on in the church hierarchy. Troll all you want with nonsensical statements about what ever. It does not matter. I thank God for the PA GJ report and do not mind that much of it was old news. It also put into perspective the horrible problem and cover-ups that occurred. I thank God for the Bsp Vigano bombshell of those problems and cover-ups rising up to the Vatican itself and do not mind that some of it may be due to the motives of wounded human intellect. I already possess a healthy amount of skepticism about all the players in this including Vigano. That also applies to Wuerl, Cupich, and the Pope himself. I thank God that many high ranking Princes of the Church are now being revealed as creatures of the most corrupt and vile behavior imaginable so that we never again dismiss the complaints of the victims. I will continue to pray for all involved and that a holy cleansing of the church continues until she again has the respect and leadership needed that can bring souls toward salvation.

You can dismiss all the evidence you want of what is going on. Your arguments have not been the slightest bit persuasive for me to think you are attempting to add any value to the conversation. Instead of making blanket statements about an entire article, use your intellect to discus the points made, good and bad, and add your counter points if you desire. That is what a persuasive argument looks like.

Well said. The day of reckoning will come for those who do not support the truth coming out, including the Pope of he does not authorize an investigation into McCarrick and the Vigano letter.
 
It would benefit to keep up with the USSCB. Your bishops.
They have already had a meeting with Pope Francis in Rome . It was last Thursdsy if I am not mistaken.
And Cardinal Di Nardo has thanked the Pope for having received them ,among other things in his usual simple ,direct, and agreable style.

I understand you post, but please note: this has not happened. One (McCarrick) has been exposed, not many. To say many of the Cardinals have done this seems like calumny at this time.
