After watching the video and reading the article from Mexican sources, I would like to clarify what is lost in translation.⦠A visibly upset Pope Francis had some tough words for a rowdy crowd when their shoving caused him to fall on a disabled boy during an event in Mexico.
Following an encounter with young people in the city of Morelia, Pope Francis took time to greet those in the crowd, distributing rosaries as he went.
At one point, the jostling of the crowd trying to grab a rosary from the pontiff was so severe that the Pope lost his balance, falling forward on a boy in a wheelchairā¦
I an thankful neither were hurt. The pope is not a young man and the boy was already in a wheelchair. And the Pope came to his defense by scolding the man. God Bless, MemawVery true! Iām sure heāll treasure that story forever.![]()
agreed!! God Bless, MemawI like jokes but this one is rather in poor taste, I think.
This was a totally normal reaction; given that he could have accidentally hurt a disabled child, his āangerā was actually rather mild and toned down.
Yes it does.
It was headline news on todayās major UK ITN channel, with no comment about whether the Popeās anger was justified, and it is the first and only report that has mentioned the Popeās visit to Mexico.
Thatās why I posted that comment. I had just seen it on the news, and It annoyed me when they showed what happened, referring only to the āPopeās angerā without even mentioning he was just humanely reacting to a what could have resulted in a serious accident. This is not only a human reaction on the part of the Pope, but he is right since, due to the crowdās shoving, he almost fell on a disabled boy.
