In addition, Bishop Michael Jackels from the Diocese of Wichita was elevated to Archbishop of Dubuque, Iowa today. Like Lincoln, Wichita is also a solid diocese.
Bishop Jackels and some other priests just talked my son into joining the seminary. They went to Rome together a couple months ago. I worked side by side with Jackels in the Third Synod of Wichita in 2001, coincidentally while I was on break one day, I was plunged into my Dark Night.

I will miss him, and I know my son will too. I am grieving. :crying:

Congratulations to the dioceses who have received new bishops from Pope Francis. They sound wonderful. I hope he has some good picks in mind for our upstate New York dioceses of Rochester and Albany.

On the subject of married Latin-rite priests: are those who are in favor of married priests willing to double or triple their contributions to the Church so that we could pay our priests a family wage? Check out how much your priest makes. It will surprise you.

Slightly above free.

Our parish has about a 1.5 million dollar budget. Are you saying that if we got an associate priest, we would have to come up with an additional 1.5 to three million to pay for him? That would be one well-paid priest. 🙂
