Pope Francis: The Church needs more female theologians

The Catholic world in Europe experienced tremendous growth in women’s rights led by the Catholic Church by things such as forcing the dower on Europe and requiring consent of the woman for her to be married.

Actually the radical Islamic states have a fairly modern ideology, much like Christian fundamentalists.

The Enlightenment brought us the ideas that women were so inferior that they were property of their husband as well as the idea that black people were inherently inferior and that enslaving them was good for them.

I couldn’t figure out how one could blame such thinking/actions on the Enlightenment. That is, until I looked up the definition.

Turns out that the Age of Reason and Age of Enlightenment are the same thing, since “enlightenment meaning Illumination” - is now obsolete.

The devil sure is crafty, eh? Just for the record, the Age of Enlightenment, to me (previously), was the age of when many men were seemingly graced by the Holy Spirit in their thinking.

Yes, More of the great women Doctors of The Church who explain to and are entirely Faithful to the timeless teachings of The Church: St. Catherine of Siena (who corrected Pope Gregory XI), Teresa of Ávila, St. Therese of the Child Jesus, and **St. Hildegard of Bingen.

One good example of this Enlightenment thinking concerning women is Jean Jacques Rosseau. His view on women would fit right in with Protestant fundamentalists’ view on women.
