In other statements, the pope says that we are in a state of war as the response to the killing of a priest.
Yet he remains unable to state who it is that we are at war with, except that it is not at war with a religion.
Some men have been more capable at providing leadership in their role as pope than others. Some have been able to provide clarity, and a yes and a no, a straight line and a goal; others have not.
Catholicism is united. They are all popes to be sure.
But with some, leadership on the matters of the day have to come from other sources.
“What the world needs now is love, sweet love” is as true now as it was in the days of John and Paul and George and Ringo.
But that is not taking a position of leadership, imho, and giving Europeans the full picture of what course of action is necessary to deal with the present situation.
Growing up means growing beyond the Beatles mentality of our youth. There has to be more to leadership than appeal to sentiment.
