Praying for the Holy Father :gopray:…It is sad when I read all the comments made by the anti Catholics following the story

The comments on the article really bother me…

But anyway, the Holy Father is 84 years old! He is doing extremely well for his age and he is in my prayers.

I really like Pope Benedict XVI and hope his health gets better.

Goodness, who wouldn’t be tired with the schedule he puts in!!

God Bless and keep him well.

Don’t let the comments from the posters there bother you.

It is easy to say rude, obnoxious things when you hide behind a computer. You’d never find them saying these things to a practicing Catholic’s face.

Just consider the source, and pray for our Holy Father.

Your right, I literally got myself all worked up over it, since coming into the church the Community-family feeling I have felt is really strong so I was really saddened to see the comments… I will pray for The Holy Father to gain the strength to continue leading the Church,

If the world hates you, remember it hated me first" John 15:18

Lose the secular media and gain joy.

Well, I went on for a few fights.

Well, I went on for a few fights.
me too…I was not well recieved…I used a quote from Archbishop Fulton Sheen

“There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is of course, quite a different thing.”
----Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

I have a question…

How many Popes have stepped down?
1? 2?..not many, factually speaking.

My thoughts are this, generally speaking …the Pope is 84, going on 85. Welcome to humanity.

What makes the idea that the Holy Father may consider stepping down is simply this, he has made comments about this in the past.

That doesnt mean he would do it. He never wanted to be pope. He really really wanted to retire many years ago.

But then, there were rumblings of Paul VI of his doing something similar (retiring to the Lateran and sort of of spending his remaining years in more of a scholarly repose.

Always be careful with media reports of this, that or the other.

Well, I’m sure he is weak and tired. Anyone would be at that age. Not to mention that he had plans to retire after his stint at the CDF was up, then he got elected to the papacy. He obviously saw something worthwhile in giving up his passion of writing in order to take the reins, so I don’t think there will be a retirement or whatever. That would send an awful message to the press, methinks.

In former times pamphleteers would spread messages that would either ignite a mass movement, or fizzle out and fade away. But, a wise eye had to be cast upon these forms of communication, as they often gave insights into dangerous trends that could be very cautionary.

Now, in the cyberspace-era of instant communication, trends of thought can be discerned much more quickly and easily. There are warning signs in these vile comments that seem to attatch themselves to any online story relating to religion. It almost seems like an organized rote response, as it occurrs without fail, in almost the exact form and fashion, each and every time.

The “New Atheists” and their ilk are engaged in a movement against religion, and their tactics are not in the least bit subtle; they are loud and profane, and they exude unapologetic hatred. They cannot be dismissed as harmless radicals anymore, as they are succeeding in luring souls away from the Lord.

So, it is wise to read what they write as commentary, no matter how angry it makes you feel. It is easier to face up to a foe when you can see them coming. These people do not hide the fact that they are the sworn enemies of the Church, and Christ. Stay alert to these trends, for they represent the signs of the times.

Our Pope is described as feeble and struggling, and they spew venom; Hitchens dies and we, informed by our religion, pray for his soul, although he was perhaps the formost enemy of our faith. Very different reactions by two very different sensibilities. We don’t have to draw a line between us…it draws itself.

I find myself commenting more. Don’t understand why but I feel I should be a voice…I know it is on deaf ears…still a do

Because you care so much about God’s church, that’s why you feel that way. 😃

I know its like someone is speaking against a family member. I love you all.especially my Holy Father
That’s because we ARE family! We are truly blessed with Pope Benedict. Praying he is with us for a long time yet. I know his age and all, but God can arrange it if He wishes.
