I’m generally a critic of Trump. In this case, I probably don’t know any more about it than the Pope does. It might be the case that DACA is not constitutional. It might be the case that Trump decided to force the hand of Congress to deal with it. It might be the case that Trump never fully intended to send DACA kids back to their counties of origin.
However, Trump’s Administration has proven once again that it’s completely inept at selling even the reasonable policies that he initiates. Instead of selling it to his shrinking core of support, (send 'em home! Get tough with scofflaws!), he should have gone all in on a massive charm offensive with the Democrats, progressives, and moderate Republicans.
In other words, DACA good or DACA bad, Trump lost the point yet again.
