Praise God! There is hope for all. The truth is a very convincing argument, Apostolic succession a very convincing record, and the Eucharist a very convincing Presence. May his faithful witness inspire others to full communion and the fullness of redemption.

There is celebration in Heaven!

Praise God that he’s back!

But he seems like one confused cookie. This is apparently the third time he’s “back”.

Seems like he was only going to come in if he could be ordained a priest and when Rome didn’t move quick enough he went back. Then it seems like he wasn’t coming back unless he could stay a bishop.

Someone correct me if I’m mistaken.

That may be how it seems to you, but I think it is a llittle more complicated than that…

Maybe it would be better to not speculate about his motive?

My thought is that the Pope in Rome through his actions since his elevation is returning us all back to the Catholic Church. Praise God.

LAUDETUR IESUS CHRISTUS!!!

I wonder if he’ll be on EWTN with Marcus Grodi in the future…it would be interesting to hear his conversion story given that this is his second time entering into the Church.

Let’s pray that the Catholic Church will be his permanent home this time!😃

As far as confusion goes, life is not always simple. I will look forward to hearing the whole story some day. Isn’t there a line in a song, “God bless the broken road that lead me right to you?”

Episcopal Bishop Clarence Pope, retired, of the Diocese of Ft. Worth, has become Catholic–again. He became Catholic in 1994, but later returned to the Episcopal church, to take care of the needs of his former flock. Now he is returning to the Catholic Church again.

👍 Or is that I think??? Sounds a bit like a revolving door man to me.

??? What do you mean?
Sounds a bit like a revolving door man to me.
Sounds like someone with enough conviction to make a move even when it is scary or easily ridiculed.

While no ex-Episcopal priest has the right to demand ordination in the Catholic Church (this is a privelage not a right) it has become a norm with parish priests - up to and including guys who sought ordination YEARS after becoming Catholic. Yet this gent was denied ordination after his Catholic bishop took a vote of the priests and deacons of his diocese who turned the request down. It was ludicrous and unheard of.

But what can I say, as a revert who has fallen away from the active practice of the faith more than once, I guess I am sypathetic to anyone who keeps coming back.

Welcome back hope, CP!

***Anglo-Catholic movement has ended, former Episcopal bishop says ***
Dallas, Aug. 10, 2007 (CWNews.com) - The “Catholic movement” among Anglicans has come to an end, a former Episcopalian bishop has told an Episcopalian news service.
Former Bishop Clarence Pope, who recently announced his return to the Roman Catholic Church, told the newsletter The Living Church that “political correctness” had triumphed over tradition within the Anglican communion.
“Without the stable center provided by the Holy See of Peter,” Bishop Pope told The Living Church, “the Catholic movement within the church will ultimately die away.” Even today, he said that Anglo-Catholic impulses were not producing more than “lots of ‘catholic’ vestments” in Episcopal circles.
Bishop Pope revealed that he had experienced regrets after entering the Catholic Church in 1995, then leaving to return temporarily to his Texas Episcopal diocese. He said that he had “drifted back” to the Episcopal fold in part because of severe depression brought on by treatment he was receiving for cancer at that time.

 Oh thank heavens! I hadn’t heard that Pope Benedict had even left and was lost or worse!! I am so relieved… 🙂

-Peace-

As it turns out Pope Benedict did leave the Catholic Church the other day… But it was only for 5 minutes to run down to Starbucks for a cup of coffee. As there is one on every corner and the baristas always seem to remember how he likes his cappucino, they were able to make it for him in no time flat and he returned to the parish right away.
