When you are trying to put out a fire (in this case trying to heal the rifts in Christianity), you don’t throw gasoline on it (ticking off non-catholic Christians). Common Sense!!
But Mike there is NOTHING new here. And the only reason he had to do it was some were tyring to read into Lumen Gentum (vatican.va/archive/hist_councils/ii_vatican_council/documents/vat-ii_const_19641121_lumen-gentium_en.htmlthat ) something that simply was not there. Heres the paragraph that cuased the confusion:

This is the one Church of Christ which in the Creed is professed as one, holy, catholic and apostolic, (12) which our Saviour, after His Resurrection, commissioned Peter to shepherd,(74) and him and the other apostles to extend and direct with authority,(75) which He erected for all ages as “the pillar and mainstay of the truth”.(76) This Church constituted and organized in the world as a society, subsists in the Catholic Church, which is governed by the successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him,(13) although many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside of its visible structure. These elements, as gifts belonging to the Church of Christ, are forces impelling toward catholic unity.**

The words I italicized led some to claim that it was possible ot have a legitimate Christain Church outside the Catholic Church. Todays statement was meant to clarify that this was not true. And that, Mike, is the job of the magestrium. To make sure that the Truth is not distorted and to make sure that error does not creep in.

Tone down how you speak to me please.
I never accused you of anything, you have of me yet I must “tone down”?

Why?

Did I ask you anything offensively or rudely?

I asked you to back up your false claim against me.

You are the one who ought not judge falsely.

You also can not pretend a teaching does not exist that really does exist. Like I said, there are some out there who are saying that Vatican II did away with this teaching. It did not do away with it.

You did not say either way, therefore I asked.

You don’t have to answer.😉
I CAN argue with anyone on here, and I can hold my own very well. However, it’s pointless to argue in this manner back and forth, as I’ve stated before. Tis not my problem that you can’t seem to keep your mouth closed. 😉

Correct, Lumen Gentum WAS part of the teachings of Vatican II

I say let it burn

I just love it when people argue about me!🙂 🙂
You made a point and were challenged, then when you responded you were told

“I dont want to argue with you”

Yet-

That is what happened.

I also was accused by this poster of something she can not back up.🤷

Prove your accusations as being truth and not slander, and you can keep arguing with yourself.

I am asking for proof of your false accusations against me.

First off, Catholics would expect us Protestants to treat their Priests with respect. Grace Seeker is a Pastor, and you all should treat him with a little more respect.

Secondly, Hellisreal: I find it ironic that your signature verse says what it says, yet you continue to talk to the Protestants here as though they are “lost.” Wouldn’t your efforts be better spent, trying to convert someone who doesn’t know the Lord?
This is the offensive post.

How did I not treat GS with respect?

How do I talk to Protestants here as though they are “lost”?

You need to BACK UP. The only reason I did not argue with Estesbob, is because I do not wish to. I have read his posts in other sections, and I have a huge respect for him and his beliefs. I do not WANT to argue with him.

You, on the other hand, have an attitude. I NEVER said that YOU were treating Grace Seeker badly. I just wanted everyone to know that he is a Pastor, and should be treated as such. If that offended anyone, I am sorry.

I’m sorry that you feel that I have accused you without justification or proof. I am aware of my own weaknesses, and one of them is my temper. I do not like the way you speak to people here, and so I am going to stop talking to you, so that I don’t say something I will regret. You and I are done speaking, at least for the time being. I apologize for any offense.

So you cant prove I said anything offensive, but are using the emotional plea.

Again- you have falsely accused me.

Its a sin.

Well, it doesn’t surprise me that the pope would say that Protestants are wrong, seeing as how a lot of them call the Pope the Anti-Christ.

Big shocker - Catholics and Protestants disagree again.

No, he was more of a radical/revolutionary (a peaceful one, of course).

If you look at how the Catholic Church is being attacked for her unchanging teachings on issues of morality, it seems that the Church’s stances are being seen as more radical all the time by the world and many non-Catholic Christians. That would make sense, given her Founder.
“In the beginning Mass was celebrated only once a week, then three or four times, and finally, in the fifth or sixth century, every day.” (Legislation on the Sacraments in the New Code of Canon Law, 87)

Unchanging huh? Do you need further examples?🤷

I saw this on comcast news today and I almost exploded. The pope only wants more power to control people’s beliefs. That is his job, after all. Ratting out on everyone and saying that they don’t have the salvation that Catholics do. He is one sick person to think that some Protestants will go to hell. Absoutly sick!

I prefer to think for myself rather than let other’s tell me what to believe.
