Yeah, but the Pope’s visit to the White House was touted as a reciprocal visit for Bush’s visit to the Vatican last June:I hope so… but I think Pope Benedict wanted to thank him for the generous reception he received here in the US…sort of reciprocate…
Maybe they like each other. This could get confusing. The Pope will have to reciprocate the reciprocation… This could go back and forth until January!![]()
But maybe they like each other… and Bush is considering conversion. It’s fun to speculate, anyway.Maybe they like each other.

Conversion of President Bush? Three reactions.
(1) Doubt it. He was raised Episcopalian and became a Methodist after he married Laura, who came from a very active Methodist family - and she is a graduate of SMU.
(2) I suspect that Bush’s main motive is political, hoping that his visit will assist the GOP ticket among Catholics this November. McCain also was raised Episcopalian, but now attends a Baptist church.
(3) Frankly, if Bush were to convert, I believe it will hurt the image of Catholicism. Is there any American more despised and distrusted around the world? I doubt it. He followed wild and wicked men around him, mainly neocons, and got us into an stupid war in Iraq, with thousands of Americans and Iraqis dead and wounded, anti-US hatred increased around the world, huge expenditures that could all but bankrupt us, diverting our attention from the real enemies in Afghanistan, over-extending our military, giving more power to the crazies in Iran, feeding immoral profiteers, creating a badly divided Americam people, destroying much Iraqi infrastructure, causing a million ot two Iraqi refugees, giving impetus to a rise of Islamic fundamentalism in Iraq, leading to persecution of Catholics there - and we could go on.
Saddam, as bad as he was (yes, he was bad), was a secularist, despised by bin Laden, an enemy of Iran, and one who permitted Christians to practice their religion freely. His foreign minister, you may recall, was Aziz, a Catholic, who made a pilgrimage to Rome to see the Pope some years back. Women had considerable freedom, did not have to be covered, and there were more women engineers per capita in Iraq than in any other country of the world.

.https://www3814.ssldomain.com/avianenrichment/fun_history.htmChurchill kept company with a Blue & Gold Macaw named Charlie. As of an article written in 2004, Charlie was still alive at the ripe old age of 104. The article stated that Charlie can still be coaxed to repeat favorite sayings, such as “[expletive] Hitler” and “[expletive] the Nazis.”
Oh… :doh2: I like the first story best
