I believe that Bishop Krister Stendhal is dancing in heaven right now. He was Bishop of Stockholm in the 1980’s, Dean of Harvard Divinity School, and a champion of Jewish-Christian relations as well as ecumenical endeavors. I think he was also one of the kindest and most gentle of men. He loved Christ and His Church and I know so very well that one day he and Pope Francis will be united in spirit.

I wish I could convey to people here what an amazing and wonderful this event in Sweden will be. It pains me to read that people are upset.

I sympathize with your pain. But as a lifelong Catholic, I’ve somewhat gotten used to encountering Catholics who are upset about something that the Pope did or didn’t do. (I vividly recall how, about two decades ago, many many Catholics I knew were constantly anticipating (and constantly disappointed) the Pope dogmatically defining Mary to be “Coredemptrix and Mediatrix of All Graces”. They’re still waiting.)

The reactions on Facebook are incredible. Already fundamentalists are saying this is the END. Revelation 17 is coming to pass.
Just can’t please some people.😉
