The relations between the Vatican and Israel are complex, of long standing, and many of their meetings over the years have been secret. There was some kind of formal signed agreement in 1993, I think, and Israel promised to give East Jerusalum and the Temple Mount to Vatican control.
All religion aside, Israel has many people just like many of the USA now, who do not want to give up their land, their borders and their sovereignty as a nation. But the leaders of the USA and the leaders of Israel are basically the same people - traitors who want a one world government and a one world relgion. The Council on Foreign Relations holds much control over US presidential administration as well as Israel administration.
I have also read that the president Peres is exerting pressure on the government to give up sovereignty over six sites, including the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, the Coenaculum on Mount Zion, Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, and the Church of the Multiplication on the Kinneret.

I am afraid all of this gets very complex. This visit of the pope to Israel cannot be looked upon in a superficial and naive way. This visit was about jokeying for position in the “new world order” and the pope and the church have some kind of plan to bring in the world government and get the whole world to go along with it.
Also, I think the Catholic Church teaches “replacement theology” which I think means that Israel is now the true church and any promises by God to orthodox covenant Jews is no longer operative.
The Jewish people are never going to forget the Shoah. However, many of them were not expecting an apology pers se from the pope: they were just expecting a more “historic” less neutral speech.
I think the Oslo Accords and the goal of peace there is sort of a “cover story” for the real plans being implemented and worked toward in Jerusalem.
Pope Benedict was a Hitler Youth, something for which we may be able to forgive because he was very young, but he volunteered for the Wermacht and he was a loyal NAZI soldier. Pope Pius XII did know about and facilitate the rat line, even holding some of the NAZI war criminals in monasteries until they could be secreted out of Italy. South America had several NAZI towns full of NAZIs, and the USA received and rewarded several NAZI scientists under Project Paperclip. Von Braun is responsible for US rocketry technology and the space program.
I believe the bible is true. I do not understand it nearly enough, but I do know that this world will come to climatic events and they will center on Jerusalem. I also know that now in world history is a time of deception everywhere in all of our institutions and in the words spoken by all of our leaders. Only the Holy Spirit can keep us steady and focused on our Lord and Savior and remaining faithful to Him.
