It was either CBS or NBC nightly news, Im not sure of the exact date, as I watch every night, was during the Popes visit though, but they definitely showed video and still pictures of Davis in the room with the Pope, her husband, lawyer, and the Popes entourage.

I will try to find and post here.
I watch those, and CNN, and I saw nothing. I do not doubt she was part of a receiving line, but that’s as far as I’ll go. The Vatican says there was NO private audience, and Pope Francis had a private audience only with his family members and some old friends, Mr. Grassi, for one. And there ARE photos of Mr. Grassi with the pope, hugging him, talking to him privately, etc.

So you are saying the Vatican and Pope Francis are lying? You are free to believe as you like, but I can’t believe the Vatican and Pope Francis would lie.

The leap in logic from A to B is astonishing.
I agree with you, Thomas, it is an astonishing leap. Just because Pope Francis did not meet privately with Kim Davis or issue an invitation to her does not mean we should give up our religious beliefs. The two are totally inconsistent, especially when one considers that Mrs. Davis is not even a Catholic and belongs to a church that does not even believe in the Trinity.

You think that is astonishing, you should see what many pro-SSM groups are posting and saying about the Pope now…they are really under the impression he is standing strong with them.
Could you provide us with a link to some quotes? Thank you.

I have heard nothing like that. People know the Vatican is against SSM and Pope Francis, while he loves all people, is against SSM as well. Being against SSM does not preclude one from loving people who are homosexual. Pope Francis clearly loves Mr. Grassi. I make these statements, and I am ultra-conservative in my religious beliefs.

News outlets did not even learn Mrs. Davis was at the reception until Pope Francis went back to Rome.

Well, maybe so. My reaction to that is pretty simple: Who cares? By that I mean it is a political issue and as such irrelevant to Catholic faith.

Please do. Everything in the news has stated that there are no photos of her actually with the pope, and I can find none online either. I would think they would be fairly easy to locate if they existed.

I am choosing to believe the Vatican on this one – Kim Davis’s attorneys have a history of untruthfulness.

Out of curiosity, where did the thread about that meeting go? It seems it was deleted but I don’t remember anything out of bounds in the thread. Maybe I lost track of it?

One of the threads about her was getting a little cluttered with uncivil posts. Perhaps that’s why it was deleted? I really don’t know. Until today, it’s been about a week since I visited the board.🤷

:bounce: Your like me in thinking that a day is a week. Actually you posted two days ago on the 6th. I am glad someone else loose track of time.

Kim Davis/Attorney Account:
  1. Kim Davis was invited by the Vatican.
2… Kim Davis and her husband had a private 10 minute audience with Pope Francis.
  1. Pope Francis agrees with what she is doing.
Vatican statement approved by Pope Francis:
  1. Kim Davis was not invited by the Vatican.
  2. Kim Davis and her husband did not have a private audience with Pope Francis. She was merely part of a receiving line among dozens of other people.
  3. There was no endorsement of her position.
etc. etc.
The statement your argument is based on was made by Fr. Thomas Rosica. Enough said. Perhaps Rosica doesn’t agree with Davis’s position but apparently someone else of the Vatican (Rosica is NOT “the Vatican” as you suggest in your first post) did so enough to invite her. Thank God there are still Catholics in the Catholic Church.

I was thinking about this last night, if its true that the Davis and the Pope only met due to her being in a general receiving line and not a private meeting, like the Vatican is claiming, then there should be PLENTY of video/ photo proof of this…

Where are the numerous videos from other people in the same receiving line, surely at least some of them would have seen Davis in the line, I find it hard to believe she would go un-noticed, even if no one did notice her, there still should be many shots of her in this line due to so many others taking video and pictures of the Pope walking along.

This is a good point.

It just keeps getting thicker and thicker…

I don’t think the “claim” is that she was in a receiving line. The report is that her lawyers contacted the Nuncio, who agreed to set up a meet and greet, just like dozens of other people. A meet and greet is not the same as a receiving line, but it is also not a private audience and does not suggest any particular level of support (or lack thereof) for her or her positions. After the Pope had already left the US, her lawyers began claiming it was a private audience and an overt show of support, so the Pope corrected the record.

I got to searching about this, so I went to look for pictures/ video of the Popes meeting with his gay friend, which the Pope and vatican agree with, there are plenty of pictures and video of THIS meeting, but I then looked at another story, which claims the vatican is not being truthful about the Davis meeting, the article below shows pictures of Davis and her husband in a room that looks pretty darn similar to the room the Pope met with he gay friend in, which was in the vatican embassy.

Look at the wallpaper, the picture frame, the chairs, from both links…looks to me, that Davis WAS indeed in the same embassy, and does not appear to be in a ‘general’ receiving line.

You’re right. :o When I get really busy, I might make a few posts, or even more than a few, then when I get back to work, I lose all track of time. Sometimes a week can seem like a month! I don’t want my life to speed up any faster than it’s already whizzing by! 😃 Okay, today can whiz by because tonight the weekend begins! 😃

I don’t think anyone doubts her lawyer arranged.with Archbishop Vigano for her to go to the meet-and-greet for the pope. I believe she was in the Vatican Embassy. I believe she received a rosary. I believe she may have shaken the pope’s hand. I don’t however, believe the pope (or anyone in the Vatican) invited her, and I don’t believe the pope knew who she was (how divisive she is) before he went back to Rome. I don’t believe she had a private audience with the pope. I choose to believe the Vatican. If there were photos of a private audience, they would be splashed all over every tabloid due to Davis’ notoriety (and her attorney). There are plenty of photos of the pope and Mr. Grassi, with whom he did have a private audience.

I don’t see anything to be concerned about. The Vatican has cleared it all up days ago. It’s not even a topic of news any longer.

That’s exactly what I believe. I don’t know why people get so upset just because she didn’t have a private audience. We all know the pope endorses conscientious objection because he said he did. He did not say whether or not he endorses Kim Davis, of course, just conscientious objection.

If I were ever invited to a meet-and-greet, that would be enough for me! But I would try to get a photo with the pope. He seems to like to take photos, which is nice. I guess he knows how much people cherish them.

Egg-zactly. Yes to all of the above.
