Pope's response to German bishops 'incomprehensible'

I means that one accepts fully the doctrines of the Catholic Church.
I take this to mean that you don’t have a problem with the German bishop’s guidelines.

The proposal says that the spouse, “affirms the faith of the Catholic Church,”.

If the spouse affirms the faith of the Catholic Church, the spouse of necessity ought to be received into the Catholic Church.
 
ought, but apparently it’s not necessary under certain circumstances

I’ll admit I don’t see the nuances that would lead a spouse from “ought” to “not”. But, I suppose someone would know.

Why is the slippery slope argument necessary if his other arguments are standing on solid ground.
Indeed. To me it appeared to undermine his the credibility of his argument. Even more damaging was the fact that he had to resort to airing his concerns in public.
