He’s taking a ton of criticism for this from fellow Calvinists, etc. But we must go where the Lord leads us – even if it pushes us out of our comfort zones 🙂

Here is a link to the entire sermon in audio format. It is actually very beautiful.

Thanks – I’ll check it out.

I’ve noticed extremist Steven Anderson already jumped all over it:

Thanks for posting! I loved Francis Chan before becoming Catholic. I’ll be praying that he comes home!

Wow, that guy is full of himself… He must have never heard of the Early Church Fathers. We should send him a book or five.

Full of himself is an understatement in regards to Steven Anderson. He’s an anti Semite and Would be of the few people on earth I would label as a heretic.

You can’t be a heretic if you were never Catholic.
Or, at least, you can’t be a Catholic heretic.

He’s just sadly misguided, and really seems to be full of hate for anyone who isn’t “saved” according to his criteria. Pretty sad to see.

You may be right and I don’t wish to argue the point but canon 751 states heresy is, “the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic (little “c”) faith, or it is likewise and obstinate doubt concerning the same.”

Steven Anderson denies that repentance is a requisite part of salvation at all.

That being said it was a good sermon but pastor Chan and I hope he goes further in his study of patristics.

One of my Co-workers is an Andersonite who tries to save everyone’s soul. I had definitely heard of him outside this forum lol. He has quite a youtube following now.

Anderson’s also feuding with Dr. James White at the moment, I’m sure you know who he is.

I’m listening to the entire Chan sermon. I have seen and heard him before and thought he was a good preacher. But his new stance on Communion has me more interested, so I googled and found this:
Chan said he felt convicted to sacrifice more for God. Chan gives away about 50 percent of his income, doesn’t take a salary from his church, and has donated most of his book royalties, which have totaled about $2,000,000, to various charities. All of it goes to organizations which rescue sex slaves in foreign countries.[6][ verification needed ] Furthermore, in 2008 it was reported that Cornerstone would give away 55% of its income to charitable causes
This man has a heart for God. Sounds a lot like St. Francis of Assisi. He is literally trying to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

I think it is important for all to hear the whole sermon and then at that, don’t just hear what you think he is saying.

Meh. One of the things I love about listening to Dr. David Anders is when he talks to someone who quotes the Bible and he basically starts with ‘How do you know you have the correct books’?

I only watched a few minutes of this but he doesn’t seem that far off from some of the protestant relatives I know. At least he’s being honest with how he feels. Hopefully he keeps pursuing truth.

Oh, he’s about as candid and upfront as they come. He comes across as mean spirited and lacking of the fruit of Spirit as well.

Listened to the entire thing. He said exactly what i thought he would say.

The comments section is all over it already, though it couldn’t hurt to offer.
