Don’t mean to burst anyone’s bubble, but I’ve heard they’ve retired the double decker busses, can you imagine!

Oh, and GK Chesterton, if he hasn’t been mentioned yet! He belongs up there with Tolkien and CS Lewis whom I have seen mentioned.
😃 Nope we still have the double decker buses

Yes they’ve retired the old ones, and replaced them with a more modern fleet.

Half my ancersters come from England smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_8_7.gif My grandmother sailed here with her husband who was in the war at Vichy.
(The other half came directly from France…shhhhhh)

I heard somewhere that the police do not carry guns…is this true? smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_146_13.gif Blessings,

Dear friend

No they don’t carry guns, they have a silly extendable stick called a ‘truncheon’ which to be honest I have no idea what they hope to do with that. They also carry CS gas.

We do have ‘armed’ response units and those guys are MEAN! They carry snipers and other such weapons as well as use dogs. We have mounted police (horseback) during riots etc as well as Riot Police who are another MEAN bunch!

When a high profile convict is on the move, the wardens and police are armed then also.

I’ve been an eye-witness to things but never had any direct contact with those guys and thank goodness.

But the average cop is not armed with a gun.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

I just love their accent…sends me into a spin…

My late grandmother was English smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_8_11.gif as I stated straight from England, and when my mom married my late dad, she asked mom to get the

‘fawks smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_5_20.gif and knives’…needless to say my mom thought she said 'f***** knives. My mom being a true French Canadian Roman Catholic was scandalized. smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_109v.gif

It has been a joke since… smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_11_6.gif

Very cool, Annunciata…exciting, also. I like history…have you ever done any family tree research? Would be really interesting…
No I haven’t done much…my cousin did though and found out that some of the Scottish in us was really Irish… …as in a Mac was really a Mc type thingy…
I would love to travel to Scotland and Ireland someday and really do some serious research.

We’ve left out big chunks of Britain, Edinburgh is one of my favourite UK Cities-

Of course, many argue that the only pureblood British left (the Gales) live here-

Ooooh…currently drooling over picture of Hampton Court Palace…😃

There’s tons of historic places I’d want to visit in Britain. The Tower, for instance, where Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard are buried. I think the crown jewels are there as well. I’m having a brain fart here but what is the name of the palace where Elizabeth I and her sister Mary are buried? That one too. I think the Boleyn family estate is still in existence as well, right? What is it called, Hever? And I think I’ve heard there’s parts left of where the Queen of Scots was imprisoned by Elizabeth for so many years. Or the palace at Hatfield but I don’t know if that still exists or not. Plus the old churches and buildings and all that.
I’d keep going but I’m trying to get my dork level down now. 😛 Annunciata you should definetly do some family geneology research. If you’re related to the Stuarts you must be related to the current royals as well, I believe. Cool.

One thing I did not mention to be proud of England is that we share the same…QUEEN! Although I must admit…I did prefer the queen’s mother…she looked so benevolent. My intuition tells me this one is not so warm…I get the chills! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_3_1.gif
