Siddhartha Guatama, the Buddha, would not have condoned the affrontery of this woman’s attempted sacrilege. If she is indeed a Buddhist, she needs to follow her masters teaching more closely.

**Look. Let’s get real here. This woman is a child of God.
She likely had ONE interaction with the Christian community, at a time in her life when she had a right to expect compassion, empathy, and gentle acceptance.
What did she get ?
**
A. This was **not **her single interaction with the Church. She once was a Catholic (still is by virtue of her Baptism) who has now embraced a different faith tradition. She taught in a Catholic school. Her mother was Catholic.
B. She DID receive compassion, empathy and acceptance from the Church. That does not equate to open Communion.
C. Of course she is a child of God. However, she put the priest in a no-win situation where he had to choose between profaning the Blessed Sacrament and giving her ammo for a media whine. He chose the latter. He did not reject her in any way. God bless him and we should all pray for Ms. Johnson.
And…you will notice in a new thread I have just posted, Fr. Guarnizo’s faculties have just been removed by his Bishop.A. This was **not **her single interaction with the Church. This is so sick… I can’t even believe this…And…you will notice in a new thread I have just posted, Fr. Guarnizo’s faculties have just been removed by his Bishop.
Agreed. This is very disturbing. This is so sick… I can’t even believe this…
I guess that apology isn’t on its way since they just suspended the Priests faculties. All I can do is laugh in sadness. When can we expect the Bishop to retract his statement and apologize to the Priest? Next time, let all the facts come out before making rash statements that throw one of your Priests under the bus. Oh and im glad to see this updated story is all over cnn, msnbc, foxnews, etc. This addition to the story doesn’t fit in to well with their hatred of everything Catholic.
I posted a thread about the suspension, but seems to have disappeared completely.I guess that apology isn’t on its way since they just suspended the Priests faculties. All I can do is laugh in sadness.
This is technically true.I see nothing wrong with this… why is the church apologizing for this? The church doesnt have to explain itself to anyone.
I doubt that Buddahism has much to do with it. This is a spiritual battle we’re fighting against Satan’s evil. He will use anyone and anything in attempting to destroy the Church. If she’s a buddhist… then why would she WANT to take communion? As for the lesbian thing… well that pretty much speaks for itself.
:sad_yes: This seems to be Spiritual Warfare at its finest. All of the recent and relentless attacks on the Church are obviously good ol Spiritual Warfare.I doubt that Buddahism has much to do with it. This is a spiritual battle we’re fighting against Satan’s evil. He will use anyone and anything in attempting to destroy the Church.
It should have been removed. We are not allowed here to go around criticizing specific bishops for the performance of their duty. From the Post article:I posted a thread about the suspension, but seems to have disappeared completely.![]()
washingtonpost.com/blogs/post_now/post/gaithersburg-catholic-priest-suspended-for-intimidating-behavior/2012/03/11/gIQAF4lk5R_blog.htmlthat the removal was not related to the Communion standoff, but “pertains to actions over the past week or two.” He did not elaborate.
I thought I read in the article that she did have a talk with the Priest in the Sacristy. The article indicated that she told him her situation and regardless demanded to receive communion. This should have all been talked over in the sacristy ahead of time. If she were repentent and had gone to confession, that information was not indicated. At least the articles I’ve read were saying the opposite. How do you presume to know the state of that woman’s soul? She may have gone to confession with another priest. Same with an adulterer. How does the priest know that a person hadn’t gone to confession?![]()
I did in fact state in my original article that there was no way of knowing how this Priest was relating to his parishioners. (the Bishop stated that he had been antagonistic and had been intimidating some of the parishioners) But regardless, it is quite strange that this has taken place immediately following the call by this woman to suspend him. One thing that is certain: This is Spiritual Warfare at it’s finest, as with all the recent and relentless attacks on the Church. Satan is behind it all, there is no doubt about that.It should have been removed. We are not allowed here to go around criticizing specific bishops for the performance of their duty. We have no information, no authority and no business having a judgment in the situation. Any opinion we have be necessity will be uninformed. I applaud the fortitude of this priest in handling this Buddhist lesbian. The suspension however is another matter and one in which we know nothing.
Excellent questions that need pondering. Problem is in this day and age those who immediately commented without all the facts have presumed the diocese correct. Is there a problem with that? How many canons have diametrically opposed opinions about this and other matters? Whereas the Magisterium stands on infallibility. So the fact that both a canon lawyer and a bishop have said this should not have happened mean nothing? How can the canons of the Church and a member of the Magisterium be irrelevant? And in 1 Cor 11 St. Paul is telling people to refrain from the Eucharist, he’s not making a threat to withhold it from them…
That teaching applies to personal sin, not the body of Christ, unless you think Jesus would throw his own Bride in Hell.Better to have the hand cut off than the whole body thrown into Gehenna.
