For me. Carry.
one life saved is a benefitThus my assertion that concealed-carry is not a benefit to society.
not true, if I am in a crowd and I take out a perp, I am armed for my family’s protection but the community near me receives the benefit. The claims that it benefits society at large is bogus and cannot be supported.
a gun is a tool like a screwdriver, not an object to be worshiped. Worship is reserved for God alone. Thanks for proving that the only argument left to gun-worshippers
you are right unless people in those zones started carrying. It would not make any difference if they went away.
so if a person wants to commit suicide and a gun is not available they won’t do it?Statistical studies prove that to be wrong.
you want to add a training requirement, the cost of this training will eliminate many poor people who need personal protection most. you have to…None of which addresses what you quoted
And two lives lost because of people using guns incorrectly is a loss.LeafByNiggle:![]()

You are not taking into account all the costs associated with having a large number of people armed. Those costs weigh against any possible benefit to society at large for you being armed.not true, if I am in a crowd and I take out a perp, I am armed for my family’s protection but the community near me receives the benefit. The claims that it benefits society at large is bogus and cannot be supported.
Half of them will and half of them won’t (or some such fraction). Whereas when a gun is available, the fraction that commits suicide is greater. So there will be some of them that die that would not have died otherwise.so if a person wants to commit suicide and a gun is not available they won’t do it?Statistical studies prove that to be wrong.

I asked about an alternative for society at large. Applying the solution you suggest for yourself is a very poor alternative when applied to society at large. For me. Carry.
It works for me. I’m not a control freak who thinks they know what is better for everyone else.Applying the solution you suggest for yourself is a very poor alternative when applied to society at large.
But in this case civic policy that allows or doesn’t allow you that choice does affect everyone else, possibly very negatively. So it is not as simple as saying “Let me do my thing and other people can do their thing.”LeafByNiggle:![]()

It is that simple. We have cops. As an additional safeguard, I carry. You do your thing whatever it is. I don’t care.So it is not as simple as saying “Let me do my thing and other people can do their thing.”
You are refusing to acknowledge the society-wide impact of a policy that lets everyone do what they want. As an analogy, do you think anyone ought to be allowed to raise hogs on a city lot if they want to? It is like that.LeafByNiggle:![]()

Not at all. I just don’t have a burning need to control other people. You mind your business and I’ll mind mine. Be happy. Don’t harm others. It’s not that complicated. You are refusing to acknowledge the society-wide impact of a policy that lets everyone do what they want.
I can only speak for myself. My neighbors have dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, horses, cows goats, turkeys, donkeys and who knows what else. A few hogs would not bother me at all. Fresh pork sounds good to me. What’s between you and your neighbors is no concern of mine. And what’s between me and my neighbors should be no concern of yours.do you think anyone ought to be allowed to raise hogs on a city lot if they want to? It is like that.
we have a large number armed now and except for a few loose nuts things are running smooth. You are not taking into account all the costs associated with having a large number of people armed. Those costs weigh against any possible benefit to society at large for you being armed.
As of 2018 there have been 17.25 million concealed weapon permits issued in the United States. (wiki)
I have not seen that proposed. Not if the training is paid for by government.
Obviously? Then you obviously don’t live on a city lot,
The citizens making their own decisions about what they choose to do or don’t do.I asked about an alternative for society at large.
“Trump’s” fault huh?The hate and fear that foul dictators like Trump and Putin have instilled in their people against the Muslims are equally monumental and precipitated acts such as these.
