Many believe that Mr. James White has led many people astray and makes his living by promoting anti-Catholicism.
And I’m one of those who believe he’s making his living promoting the truth.
I am asking that all here who have such an opinion (or worse!) put their efforts into not bashing him, but praying for him this week.
I ask that you commit to a day of prayer and fasting for the conversion of James White on this coming Friday, May 11th.
Please “sign here” and commit to praying at least once every hour you are awake on Friday.
Please also commit to fasting from meat this Friday as a form of prayer for the conversion of James White.
Please also mention here if you have recruited someone (offline) to pray that day for him.
I’m going to pray that God would use James White mightily as he has done in the past to continue to put forth the truth from the Scriptures. God won’t answer your prayers the way you expect Him to, because God wouldn’t cause one of His own to drop into error.

Mr White has been following this thread. On his website he states this:

Over on the Catholic Answers forums a thread has developed calling for a day of fasting and prayer for my conversion to Roman Catholicism. I would like to encourage Christians to spend time in prayer asking God to draw to Himself His people who are currently trapped in the Roman system…

To state that Catholic Christians are “trapped in the Roman system” is uncharitable indeed.

It’s actually charitable if it’s true and Rome is a false system.

Actually, no, it’s not all that charitable. If I had a thin skin, I would probably take offense. Since I don’t, no worries.

But I can understand White’s reaction. Aside from the problem of his titanic ego, this thread IS provocative. A normal person would probably take it as condescending.

Still and all, JW just adds to the perception of arrogance when he feels the need to address every comment about him on the Internet–the recent business with Kacy is a classic example. Heck, he even left a comment on my silly little blog once. The man just can’t laugh anything off.

WRONG AGAIN, Atemi!
What does Jesus tell Saul in Acts 9:4-5?

**“He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, *“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting ME?” ***
He said, “Who are you, sir?” The reply came, "I am JESUS, WHOM YOU ARE PERSECUTING.”

To persecute Christ’s Church is to persecute HIM.
Jesus and his Church are ONE
What makes you think this is the roman catholic church? If you read the NT you don’t see the disctinctives of the roman church such as: the marian dogmas, indulgences, praying to saints, purgatory, the pope etc. The church of the NT is not the samething as the roman church.

Many believe that Mr. James White has led many people astray and makes his living by promoting anti-Catholicism.
It is my belief that Mr. White knows more than anyone how untruthful he is regarding the Catholic Church and that he is sort of “stuck” by making a good living out of Anti-Catholicism.

I will keep him in my prayers. He would make a fine addition to the team if he took that leap. 👍

I
Yes. There is only ONE CHURCH, so why you would seek to “convert” people to your denomination and not that ONE CHURCH, is beyond me.

…
Atemi at least look at it from our perspective.

Do you not believe that what you believe is the correct view of Christianity the Truth nothing but the truth?

Why would you be converting anyone to something other than what you believe to be the 100% truth? After all you have all the truth everything you belive is 100% correct. Makes no since for you to say hey what Im telling you is the correct meaning of scripture but you can go to the Church down the street.

dont sound like someone who truly believes that everything he believes to be true is true. Otherwise you would be converting people to your correct understanding of scripture.

bottom line is there has always been people who have aposed the apostles but did the apostles say just come to the churches? Even the ones who aposed them?

No they were so in love with the TRUTH that was given to them they converted people to there faith:)

Ask yourself atemi could you see the apostles saying something along these lines?
LOL, yes.

The Eastern Orthodox would like to hear this one, too.
Atemi and ThankfulServant I just have one question

How do YOU know that Protestantism is ONE TRUE CHURCH?

Atemi I dont expect you to answer this sence you have problems answering queswtions I have on other treads but I would like to hear from Thankfulservant

but you could atleast atempt to ansewr them and hopfully I could see yiou respond to the thread on fruit of the vine

Maybe you should start a thread on one of these subjects we would be more than happy to show you htat NOTHING in the bible contradicts our faith.

After all where do you see 33,000 different denominations in the new testament all claiming to have the correct view on scripture?

start the thread and invite me in:thumbsup:

Uh,… because it is.

It is to me because I’ve seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

It isn’t to you, most likely, because you have some other “denominational” affiliation, because you haven’t seen anything to convince you that it is.

So,… what’s your point? 🙂

Mahalo ke Akua…!
E pili mau na pomaikai ia oe. Aloha nui.
So, that’s your answer, “Uh,…because it is”. And how did you come to that conclusion?

My point is, I’ve been reading a lot of the postings on this web site about how the RC church is the only “true” church. Again, just by making such a statement doesn’t make it valid.

Where in scripture is your proof.

Apparently, it is Tradition that is the source of doctrines which are clearly not taught in the Bible but which the Catholic Church still says are implicit within its text and elucidated through Apostolic Tradition.

Some of them are as follows: The Mass, Penance, Veneration of Mary, Purgatory, Indulgences, the Priesthood, the Confessional, the Rosary, Venial and Mortal Sins, and statues in the Church.

The issue is whether or not these teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are credible. Do they accurately represent Christianity? Can they be substantiated with the Bible? Or do they contradict the Bible?

All I’m saying is show me. If we are to be seekers of the truth what better place to find it then in God’s Word.

Thankful Servant, You just joined the forum today, and this is the only topic you are writing on? How unusual. Why did you pick this topic of James White? How is that interesting to you?

Unless you are James White.

Tell me then: If the nomadic tribe of Isreal at the time of the wandering could have seen the Davidic Kingdom or the Temple Of Solomon in all it’s royal majesty, would they have not said the same thing, *how can this **be of God? *

Seeds grow, and that’s why the wandering tribe of Isreal morphed into the Davidic Kingdom with a full Levteical priesthood, temples, thrones and even a queen mother at the side of every king.

Everything in the Catholic church is contained in the scriptures, some in “seed form” as Cardinal Newman liked to put it and those seeds blossomed when the time was right.

Remember it took several hundred years for the Catholic Church to thresh out the nature of Christ, the Trinity, which books were divinely inspired, books like Hebrews, 2nd Peter, the epistles of John, Revelation, these were hotly contested. Try not to fall into the trap that these doctrines appeared by osmosis and suddenly everyone agreed because that’s simply not the case.

You make a good point here. Those examples you give above were absent in the NT church

No, I am not James White. Although, I did go to his web site, and while I am not a Calvinist I find nothing wrong in his doctrines that we should be praying for him. Unless of course it’s because he is not a catholic?

The case for the inclusion of the nature of Christ, the Trinity and the books of the NT is quite good because of the evidence. The problem with the “seeds blossomed when the time was right” doesn’t do the job. Anyone can say this. In fact Musliums claim that Mohamed’s coming was predicted in the NT. What would you say to a muslium who makes such a claim i.e. “seeds that blossomed when the time was right” for the appearnce of Mohamed being the greatest prophet?

Also what it fails to do is to take the warnings of scripture that false teachers would come into the church and decieve many.

What is the correct view of scripture? Has your church infallibly defined and interpreted every verse of the Bible? If it has, can you show me where i see it?

If it hasn’t, then catholics are in no better position than protestants.

"For the conversion
of James White"?

This arrogantly assumes that he is not a Christian and lost in his sins.

If you are not arrogantly assuming that he is not a Christian, what on earth are you calling him to convert to?

Your church??…This from a guy who spends his time here “witnessing” to Catholics?

Now he’ll say that he doesn’t seek for any of us to convert to his church, but away from our church.

That’s just wrong of you to criticize Catholics for praying for the conversion of anyone.

I am not here to “witness” to Catholics.

Geez. Silliness.
Now he’ll say that he doesn’t seek for any of us to convert to his church, but away from our church.
Yes. I do not try to convert any Catholics to join my church. That is nonsense.

Nor do I try to convert Catholics at all, unless they are without faith in Christ…as many, many Catholics are.

As for faithful Catholics, they should already be converted.
That’s just wrong of you to criticize Catholics for praying for the conversion of anyone.
You’re not truly praying for anyone’s conversion, but that they will become Roman Catholic.

The problem is that too many have no clue what the difference is.

Very self centered, IMO.

You literally got millions of Catholics in the world who are not even converted for Christ, but they are fine as they are already Catholic.

Nahhh.

Let’s seek to “convert” those who already know Christ.

Great.
