Thank you so much, BlessedStar!
My heart actually worries a little after reading the thread of
“Frightening sermon by St. Leonard of Port Maurice”,

My mother is a Protestant. So she did not have to go to confession. When I flew to see her a few weeks ago, we (all four daughters) told her the importance of forgiving others and so God will forgive her. I asked for her forgiveness for anything I offended her during the past. A priest came to anoint her with oil and talked about forgiveness. Even she could not talk, we were very sure she heard it all.

Last night before she passed away, I called and my sister who was with her in ICU put me on the speaker phone. I told her I loved her very much and asked her to have peace and fix her eyes on Jesus.

I hope she will make to the purgatory. The sermon by St. Leonard
worries me.

Don’t worry about that. You trust Jesus, I know that, I have read many of your posts full of love for Jesus. You love your mother greatly too. Your mother received alot of graces through prayer and the love of those she loved. Jesus loves your mother more than you love her. Your mother also loves Jesus. Your mother will receive God’s mercy as shall we all if we believe in Him.

’There are these three things that remain, faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love’

There is alot of love in your family and alot of love for Jesus.

Forget that sermon it is for those who do not love at all.

God is kindness and compassion, slow to anger and rich in mercy.

Your mother is in the arms of Jesus, give her a couple of weeks and then set her to work praying; you’ll soon learn this way what I have said is true.🙂

Yesterday, I went to mass after having told you that I would be praying for your mother. I was also, btw, into my second day of a novena to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus.. Little did I know what was particular about last nights mass as I tried to find a place to park..; so many people at the late mass.. ''how unusual'' I thought to myself.........Well.......It turned out that the mass was the annual mass for the deceased....and there were Roses everywhere ! And so I assisted at a very special mass indeed for your mother.. the choir and the music... it was a great mass and we were all gathered to pray for those of us who are no longer of this world. You can be sure that God heard from the faithful gathered last night at St Joseph's Oratory on the mountain...and I can tell you your mother was among those being prayed for.

 Peace be with you,

        JMJ,

           Ricardo

Hi InLight,

Will definitely keep your mom in my prayers and post her too on the list for my prayer group. I remember when my grandmother passed away a few years back - at any given time two of us were with her praying the rosary. It was a time of sadness true, but also a time in which we all saw the power of a family praying together and the peace that can bring to those suffering.

Hi, Ricardo:

Your message is really uplifting to me. Thank you so much.

Last night I was thinking about your paryers for my mother and I was giving my thanks to God for your love and all the loving cares I have received from my forum friends.

It is comforting to know the Mass you assisted last night was specifically for the deceased. Praise the Lord, and thanks again.

Dear Dmari, my heart is full of gratitude.

Thanks so much!!
God bless!!

Just want to mention that I was hoping my mother’s funeral would be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday because 3:00 pm is the hour of mercy.
I did not mention this to anyone, just a thought in my heart.

It all depends on the crowded schedule of that funeral home.
My sisters had a meeting with the funeral home this morning.
It turns out the available time is 3:00 pm on Saturday.
Praise the Lord!

I am heading to LA, California, early tomorrow morning.
God bless you all!

Light, that is Divine Providence and a clear sign of Divine Mercy. I hope you take great consolation in this. None of my words have been trivial or said lightly to you, what I’ve said has been in all certitude. In God we are all connected.

On Saturday at 3.00pm I will be with you in spirit and hold you all in my Living Prayer.

Go and celebrate the wonderful life of your mother that brought forth you and your family, give thanks to God and be joyous that God gave her to you and you to her for a time until you meet again in Heaven. Don’t say ‘Goodbye’, but say ‘I will see you again’ making the Sign of the Cross.

Light a candle by the Blessed Sacrament in thanks for God’s Mercy and be captivated by Him.

Ricardo, Dmari, and Blessedstar:

Thanks to you all. I will take Blessedstar’s advice to say “See you again,” when they lower the coffin to the ground. That is good wording. Yes, like you all said, there is divine providence. I do take comfort for it. God does care every detail of our lives, doesn’t He?

Thanks again and God bless!
By the way, I don’t think I should be addressed as “Light”, since only Jesus is the “Light”.
I chose InLight as my screen name to express my desire of being In His Light. 24/7 🙂

InLight you are very welcome. Safe travels and please touch base when you get home. You’ll be in our prayers:-)

You may be InLight, but you have been a light for me in the past, indeed you have been Jesus to me, however I’ll call you whatever you like.🙂 😃

Safe journey, come back to us, God’s Peace and Consolation to you and I am with you in spirit on Saturday and I love you very much in Christ.

By God’s grace, mother’s funeral went smoothly. Thanks and praises be to God!

LA was raining Friday night. I prayed for sunshine for the next day. Saturday morning it was still raining. When we, the four daughters, were praying in the viewing room before lunch, the rain was pouring down hard. But I never worried about the weather; I knew it would clear out later. And it did.

Many relatives and friends attended the ceremony in the funeral home’s chapel. It was the Protestant style. My sisters put together a very good program. Each daughter and each grandchild had a chance to say something. I did the Bible reading – 1 Corinthians 15: 54 – 57. The sun was shining so bright all the time.

Thank you, my dear friends for all your kindness and support. Your love warms my heart, it means a lot to me. May God bless you for your charity! When I think about this, it amazes me that we have never met, we don’t even know each other’s name, but such godly love can pour over me as such. It made me cry.

The Bible verse in my signature is one of my favorite. It expresses my heart.
My mother in law passed away this past April. I took a 30-hour one way trip back to Taiwan for her funeral. Now my mother is gone. I lost all my earthly mothers by now.
But I always have my Lord Jesus and my Mother Mary with me.

Tears are pouring down as I am writing to you, but tears are cleansing and my heart is at peace. I have to stop for now. Thanks again.

I felt very sad yesterday. I guess it is the aftermath that hits.
I went to church to pray, but felt restless and couldn’t say my Rosary or Chaplet as usual. The Pastor, my SD was off yesterday, but the Vicar was there. I stopped at his door and he invited me in. I sat there and let my tears flow. I asked him questions about “few get saved.” He said Saints, even Church Doctors, are still human beings, while what they said are valuable, it does not mean they are infallible. We have to use our judgment when read their works.

I also asked him if God’s presence is in purgatory.

He said the reason I asked such questions is because I not only worry for my mother, I also worry for myself.

I didn’t think I was worrying for myself when he said that. But when I went to bed after midnight last night, all of a sudden, I realized what he said must be true. I always want to directly go to heaven because I could not stand the possible lack of God’s presence in purgatory. But Father said God is everywhere except in Hell.

Father also said if I ask Jesus these questions, Jesus will say, “My child, why do you ask?
Why don’t you just trust me?” Hearing that, I knew I heard Jesus at that moment.

Just to share.

Hi InLight - I can definitely understand your questions and think the Vicar had some great responses.

I think whenever we are close to one who passes on that it’s very natural for us to think about our own time and what will happen when it comes.

I’ve read that Purgatory is a place where souls go once they have stood before God and it’s the longing to be back in His presence that causes their suffering. They’ve had a brief taste of His glory and long beyond measure to have that again for all time.

I loved your Vicars comment about remembering that the saints were human and therefore falliable. While we can strive to imitate their example we need to remember that they too were like us as sinners in the making of saints.

You’ll be in my prayers for God’s blessings and peace in your heart during this time.
