Lord Jesus Christ, You have willed that St. Dymphna should be invoked by thousands of clients as the patroness of nervous and mental disease and have brought it about that her interest in these patients should be an inspiration to and an ideal of charity throughout the world. Grant that, through the prayers of this youthful martyr of purity, those who suffer from nervous and mental illness everywhere on earth may be helped and consoled. .

Be pleased to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna and of Your Blessed Mother. Give those whom I recommend the patience to bear with their affliction and resignation to do Your divine will. Give them the consolation they need and especially the cure they so much desire, if it be Your will. Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou among women,and
blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now, and
at the hour of our death.
Amen

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, as is and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell,
lead all souls to heaven, especially, those in most need of Your Mercy.
Amen

Cecilia,
I went through and read all your post, since it has been a while since I have been on your thread, but I have kept you in my prayers. I want to throw something out there to you and I could be very wrong and I hope I am, but have you ever considered that the cause of your depression is your husband.

As I read your post, it reminded me of my first five years of my marriage. The only exception is that I have only one child. I stopped at one for two reasons, my very bad back and my husband’s excessive anger problem and mental health. I have talked to many priest about this. As it is, my dd may have been scared for life at some of my dh early anger outburst that she remembers and excessive spanking. I remember those days where I could do nothing right. I remember those days where I got blamed for things that were out of my control. I remember those days where I did everything and he would sit back and when we were late, it was my fault and I would get yelled at. Yes, he spoke this way to his mother. I didn’t know until after we were married, unfortunately. He was abused as a child and this is how he knew how to communicate. He was unreasonable and irrational. I saw many addictions in him. If he quit one, he would grab onto another immediately like a security blanket. He still does that. He still has many addictions and sleeps late. He can’t work because of his temper and mental health. Our worse arguments were when he had a job or whenever he had a task to do in the house and it did not go well or according to plan and as we know many times things don’t go as we want them to go all the time. He could not handle that. I was going crazy. I was so depressed and yelling at my little girl. I use to spank her too hard too. It got to the point that I didn’t care if I fed her or not and one doctor looked at me and said that I need professional help. I got help and was put on antidepressant to think clearly. I found out the source of my anger and depression was my husband’s treatment of me. Anger is contagious. How can you be happy and at peace when someone is yelling at you, doesn’t help you, blames you for things that are not your fault and etc.? It gets to you after so many years of it. I don’t know about you, but my dh use to embarrass me in public and yell so that the entire store could hear him.

One day, I told him that if he didn’t go seek professional help, I would leave the house. He went to see a psychiatrist and it took some time to get the right medication dose and combination, but boy what a difference in my dh’s behavior and temperment. I won’t say that he doesn’t get angry anymore, for he still does, but not like he use to, not that rage and not for silly reasons. He doesn’t blow up at me either for things that are out of my control too. Medication helped a lot and anger management. I don’t know if your dh needs this and to me it doesn’t sound like it is all you. I don’t think your depression will ever get better until some changes happen with your dh. That is just my humble opinion from what I have had happen in my marriage. If you feel that you are walking on eggshells with him, please ask him to go seek help for the sake of your marriage and I agree, Retrovaille and other things won’t help until he helps himself. When that happens, than Retrovaille will work.👍

By the way, the source of peace for me is what you mention above and that is going to Adoration. Jesus will be the source of strength and courage for you that you need to get through all this. When I was going through all I was going through, all I have ever heard from family and friends and even counselors is “Get a divorce!” When I went to Holy Hour, I felt the Lord tell me that He could change my husband but it would take time. I went there for courage for somedays, I did want a divorce and out of the marriage for the sake of my dd who I didn’t want to grow up with an anger problem. She is now 10 years old and does have a temper, God help me. She is a lot like her dad. But kids do as they see. Pray for your boys a lot. My dd tries real hard to control he temper though which is great on her own and I am proud of her. She tells me that she doesn’t want to be like her dad in that area.
Very well put nana…she is right Cecilia. get him help and in doing so it will help you too.

Still so frustrated. When DH took the kids to his folks’ for the day on Saturday so I could clean and he realized that I didn’t get a nap that day at all, he said he’d come home Sunday after helping his brother clean their new house and let me get a nap. Well, no surprise, that didn’t happen. I had a HORRIBLE time w/ 3yo son, yelling and spanking all afternoon and into the evening, even spanking and getting angry w/ my 20mo.

So yesterday DH was ‘sick’ all day, whatever THAT means w/ him. He didn’t get out of bed till 7:30 PM!!! Went to work for 2 hours just to avoid getting written up. Still not out of bed this a.m. So angry that he can get up and be ready to help his brother @ 8 a.m. on Sunday morning, but totally neglects OUR family and household needs.

We had planned on taking our oldest and his 9 yo nephew out for the day and to lunch this Saturday, but his brother has declared this his moving day, so we have to cancel our plans. Just want to tell DH that he should tell his brother he won’t be available to help on Saturday b/c he’ll be at work making up his time or helping relieve me w/ the boys at home.

I am so overwhelmed w/ laundry and dishes (no dishwasher) that I can’t even seem to MAKE time to train my children to do what I want them to do to obey and help cut down on all the frustration. Having trouble getting myself and everyone together in the morning. I’ve got to figure something out b/c soon I will be getting THREE little ones ready by MYSELF in the mornings.

So mad at DH for being there for everyone else but us.
