Prayer for My Sister in Law, Sharon

She’s a Catholic and goes in for major stomach surgery for cancer at 3pm (The Hour of Divine Mercy) CDT tomorrow, (August 27th). Please pray for her and that the doctors will be guided by the Holy Spirit and for His Divine Mercy to prevail.

Father in Jesus name please ensure that Sharon’s surgery is successful and that she has full recovery. Please keep her in Your presence now and always.

Father of all mercy and healing, look with Your unfathomable compassion upon Sharon, your precious child. In Your mercy, grant that her doctors, nurses and technicians reflect Your love to those around them. Settle her spirit with Your reassurance, which calms us during the storms of life. May she turn herself over to You in completeness, trusting in Your love of her. Watch over and guide the hands of the surgeon, ensuring that Your will is accomplished. Strengthen her in mind, body and spirit to undergo this necessary operation, and comfort her as she heals. Graciously surround her with loving family and friends, who will lighten her burden as she recuperates. We beseech You to hear her prayers, and that You join them with our prayers as well as those of the Angels and Saints to form an unending petition for her healing. Grant this, O Loving Father, through Jesus Christ, our Savior, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen! Alleluia!

UPDATE:

She’s dying. They opened her up looked around and closed and returned her to the room. They’re not talking months…they’re talking weeks…at the most.

My brother is broken-hearted and her two kids are grief-stricken.

She’s had the sacrament of the sick and I left my 3rd order relic from Padre Pio under her pillow and will begin prayers for his intercession.

Thank you all for your prayers. Please persevere with us.

Michael, our prayers go up for them, and our hearts go out to them, such a shock this must be.

Blessed Lord, we ask that Your mercy be upon this grieving family in their time of sorrow. May peace and strength be theirs as they contemplate eternity in Your kingdom. Grant them an increasing faith, and understanding to know the perfection of Your Divine plan. In Your mercy, keep Sharon free of sin, so that she may be acceptable on the day of Your call. Shroud her family with the ministrations of the Angels as they embrace a future that was not anticipated. Send extended family and friends to share their grief and console them. Grant that they live each moment in great love as they cherish the time they have together. Lord, our lives are not our own, but come from You and return to You. Graciously send them the inner strength to accept this as they progress in their own faith. We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and regns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
 
Sharon, (my sister in law) was awake and aware today and talked to all of us. She knows she’s dying at this point and is beginning to make the “Living Will” decisions that will be important later on.

She cannot eat, period. She gets several IV bags of stuff that looks like a vanilla milkshake that helps to nourish her. She and my brother are already discussing hospice. So far, things are better than I expected, but we know that that will not last.

There is a great deal of prayer for her, and I thank you all for it.

Please continue to stand with us in this. They have two twin 14 year olds (a boy and a girl) who are going to have to deal with losing the Mom they love very very much. That is going to rough. 😦

I found the following passages of scripture that I intend to share with my brother.
Wisdom 3:[1] But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and no torment will ever touch them.
[2] In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died,
and their departure was thought to be an affliction,
[3] and their going from us to be their destruction;
but they are at peace.
[4] For though in the sight of men they were punished,
their hope is full of immortality.
[5] Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good,
because God tested them and found them worthy of himself;
[6] like gold in the furnace he tried them,
and like a sacrificial burnt offering he accepted them.

That’s the very same prayer that one of her family members and I prayed last night just before I left. I doubt this is “coincidence”. 🙂

Your post brings tears to my eyes. I am so sorry…for her, for the family.
May God comfort her in this time and bring her peace.
