Prayer for My Sister in Law, Sharon

Watch O Lord with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight,
and give Your Angels and Saints
charge over those who sleep.
Tend Your sick ones, dear Lord,
rest Your weary ones,
bless Your dying ones,
soothe Your suffering ones,
pity Your afflicted ones,
shield Your joyous ones,
and all for Your Love’s sake.

Amen
 
Visited Sharon this morning after Mass. I took her a Mass card from some friends and the brown scapular.

She seems better and worse in some ways.

The drugs have her speech all fouled up and she seemed a lot more uncomfortable.

Talked to my brother and he said he has no doubt that the other night when she almost died was basically God preparing her for what is to come.

They are very concerned about possible renal failure which they are saying is likely to be the end for sure.

sigh I continue to pray.
 
Prayer for a Happy Death

Oh Mary, conceived without stain, pray for us who fly to thee!
Mother
of those who are in their agony , leave us not in the hour of our death, but obtain for us perfect sorrow, sincere contrition, remission of our sins, a worthy reception of the most Holy Viaticum, the strengthening of sacrament of the sick so that we may be able to stand with safety before the throne of the just but merciful Judge, our Lord and our Redeemer.

She is in my rosary intentions. As well as the whole family.
May God comfort you all at this time.
 
I will add Sharon to my Rosary tomorrow, and all her family.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen***
 
Lord, strengthen this sorrowing family by revealing Your promises, which alone are trustworthy. Help them to cherish the time they have had, and continue to have together. May the Holy Spirit draw them together in faith as never before. Grant that Sharon’s answer to the Father’s call to eternal life be a celebrated and comforting, if initially sorrowful moment. Join our prayers with those of the Angels and Saints to form an unending petition for mercy upon Sharon, and great peace and comfort to her loved ones. We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

It’s over…

My brother just called.

Sharon went on to be with Our Lord at about 11:15 surrounded by her family and a dear priest/friend.

She simply went to sleep and stopped breathing.

My brother said that her doctor had come in this morning and had knelt down by her bed and prayed for her so he must have known even then.

My brother said that Father John was there and sang a couple of songs for her as they waited by her bed and that her 14 year old daughter also sang a special religious song she had written for her. A dying man in the next room asked the nurses if that was angels singing that he heard…maybe what he heard was.

I want you all to know what your prayers and support has meant to us all and especially to Sharon. You exemplify what I love most about being a Catholic and what I love most about being in humble association with you all.

Sunday morning after Mass, My Beloved and I went up to see her and though speaking was difficult from her meds, she expressed how beautiful the Mass card from some dear friends from here on CAF was and took the brown Scapular from me. It is strange that we were just there and talked with her and even laughed with her a bit and now she is with the Lord.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord. And may perpetual light shine upon her.

May the joy of the Risen Christ console you and your family, and may Sharon rest in peace.

The family seems to be holding up fairly well.

The funeral is Saturday at 10am CDT at the parish where Sharon and my brother attended Mass.
