Prayer for Priests

O almighty and eternal God, look upon the face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him who is the eternal High Priest, have mercy on Your priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their own vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop’s hands. Keep them close to You, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime calling.

O Jesus, I pray You to help your faithful and fervent priests; for Your unfaithful and lukewarm priests, for Your priests laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for Your tempted priests; for Your lonely and desolate priests; for Your young priests; for Your aged priests and for Your sick priests.

I commend to you the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me, the priests who have given me the precious Body and Blood of Jesus in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed me or helped and encouraged me and all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way.

O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly both now and in eternity. Amen.

Almighty God, look upon the face of Jesus who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today‘s world. They are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You so the enemy may not prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray You to help Your faithful and fervent priests; for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are young; for those who are dying; and for those who are in purgatory.

But, above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me, the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who gave me Your body and blood in Holy Communion; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to who I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests.

Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen

Prayer for Priests

Almighty Father, grant to these servants of Yours the dignity
of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness.
As co-workers with the order of bishops may they be faithful
to the ministry that they receive from You, Lord God, and be
to others a model of right conduct.

May they be faithful in spreading the good news, so that the
words of the Gospel may reach the ends of the earth, and the
family of nations, made one in Christ, may become God’s one,
holy people.

Amen.

Father, as the enemy circles this earth, deceiving many, we pray that Your chosen priests will remain free of evil influence, ever gazing upon the blessed eternity which You have promised. Strengthen them daily to follow Your Son’s commands, in all holiness. May they preach the gospel news to all nations, in fulfillment of the scriptures and the will of Christ. We ask this through the same Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen! Alleluia!

Against all evil, Lord, strengthen Your servants! Mercifully grant them a full measure of the gifts of Your Holy Spirit. Shield them from sin and grant that they are pious examples for each of us in following Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask this through the same Lord Jesus, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
