Lord Jesus, Your Church continues because of the faith and perseverance of those who have vowed before you their unceasing love and dedication. It is through their hands that You come into our presence in the Eucharist; It is through their ministry that we hear You speak the words of absolution. It is through their love that You bless us. Hear us, Eternal redeemer, as we beseech Your intercession on behalf of these faithful servants. Breathe Your Holy Spirit upon them daily, keeping them faithful and filled with love. Renew them as they grow weary of the Divine tasks that have been entrusted to their human frailty. Draw them together so that they may support one another in that same love, and hold them close to You when the evil one approaches them. We ask this through Your perfect intercession with the Lord God, our Father in Heaven. Amen! Alleluia!
 
Love and commitment

Heavenly Father, for Jesus’ sake You look on Your priest and love him more than human mind can conceive! Through Your Spirit, please transmute his humanity through Your love and unite him with You! Make Your love to be his love, Your thoughts to be his thoughts, Your truth to be his truth, Your ways to be his ways, Your strength to be his strength.

Transform him into a fountain of Your goodness and love, a source of salvation to the whole human spirit of Your people. Fill him with loving-kindness, with peace and faith to share with others.

Ever deepen his contemplation and comprehension of You, and commensurately, his love and service.

Intensify his perception and understanding of other human beings.
Deepen his ability to communicate Your gospel to them, and commensurately, his love and service.

Expand in him the gift of opening others’ hearts and minds, so that they become receptive to Your love and teachings. Let others be thus inspired to seek God, rather than concepts of God.

Wherever he goes, whatever he does, whatever he says or preaches, endow Your priest with grace and wisdom to inspire others to love and faith.

Empower him to inflame others’ complacency into genuine and faithful practice of Your greatest commandment, of love for You above all and others as self!

Almighty God, make him the saint You mean him to be.
With thanksgiving, I offer him to Your merciful love!

A special prayer for Father Ambroise, who dropped by this morning before he was scheduled for a funeral service. He is from a small parish and is being called upon by neighboring parishes to fill in. He did not even have time to eat. We were just finishing breakfast, so we fed him in record time and he rushed off to the funeral. What a faithful servant of the Lord! And, as our Lord said (Matt 10:10) “The worker deserves his wage”. Amen! Alleluia!

Almighty God, look upon the face of Jesus who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today‘s world. They are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You so the enemy may not prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray You to help Your faithful and fervent priests; for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are young; for those who are dying; and for those who are in purgatory.

But, above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me, the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests at whose Masses I have assisted and who gave me Your body and blood in Holy Communion; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to who I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests.

Cause us to reflect on the miracle and beauty of this Sacrament, which occurs in our presence. Graciously allow us to speak words of thanksgiving to them for their willing hearts, which are a gift of love from You. You have taught us, through Sacred Scripture, that the “worker deserves his wage” (Matthew 10:10), so let us be a part of Your Divine Providence to them in return for all that we have received from them. Most of all, Father, we praise and bless Your Holy Name for the hope that is contained within Your promises, and the goodness we find in the Church which Your Son established for our good. Grant this through the same Risen Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
