If only you could know how your prayers have helped my family and I through this. The Lord has heard you and responded with kindness. We are grateful for your sacrificial prayers.

I had another chemo session yesterday and I am trying to find something this morning that is appealing to eat. The few pounds I have gained gives me a little cushion in this regard. Useful fat. Who’da thunk? I am beginning to drink real coffee(!) again, since I am groggy from taking muscle relaxants in order to sleep. It seems that one of the chemicals causes some nervous system symptoms that are similar to restless leg syndrome. It produce a sensation which I can only descrobe as a “nerve itch”. Let it go and it borders on pain, so I must exercise my left leg and arm to calm it. Then, it comes back in about 10 seconds. The blessing is that it does not occur every night.

Due to the infection in my ankles, I must also sleep with my feet elevated. This sees to provoke the nerve symptoms. Thus, sleeping is rather difficult and I’m getting about two hours at a time. My body has a constant need to eliminate the toxins, so I’m getting up several times during the night. I was sleeping on the floor next to a heater, but that roasts one side and chills the other! Plus, it wakes Elsa when she realizes I’m not in bed. She worries a lot and I pray for her peace.

Again, this is a journey - someone has suggested that it is one of purgation, but I have consistently received the strength that I need from our Gracious God. It has come through your blessed intercession in great part, I must add.

May the Lord continue to bless you all for your faithfulness and regular dialog with Him. May each of you be lead to a more profound faith. Amen!

Dear St. Lawrence, please ask the Lord to bless and heal po18guy, and see to it through the kind intercession of your prayers that po18guy is just warm enough on all sides.

Information on St. Lawrence, Martyr, that will interest you:

"In great anger, the Prefect condemned Lawrence to a slow, cruel death. The Saint was tied on top of an iron grill over a slow fire that roasted his flesh little by little, but Lawrence was burning with so much love of God that he almost did not feel the flames. In fact, God gave him so much strength and joy that he even joked. “Turn me over,” he said to the judge. “I’m done on this side!” And just before he died, he said, “It’s cooked enough now.”

TOP, AnneMary, cassie89, renatas, St Gabriel, 244Rocket, the phoenix and all others: Bless you all for your prayers.

We all have our cross to bear, as “no disciple is greater than his master”, but some days the cross just weighs more. The two days following chemo are such days. It is your prayers and the grace of God that make it bearable if not easier.

My last session will be December 23rd, so I have my Christmas present already planned. Until then, I shall rely on the gift of strength from the Lord, brought through your kind intercession. I continue to pray for all of you as well, although not as often or as profoundly as I should. Maybe that will return with the gift of strength.

God bless you all.

Jim, I’m glad to hear that you will be done Dec.23rd. I know that the breaks between rounds get shorter and shorter concerning sickness. My last week, I was sick up to the day of the last round and didn’t get a break. They stopped my treatment a week earlier then expected, but It was just enough to kill the cancer. You stay strong! You have shown me how to suffer gracefully if I have to go through it again and I thank you. Continued prayers. Tim
P.S. Don’t forget apples and Italian ice to soothe your mouth and stomach.

Thank you Tim! It is for the reason you mention that I was allowed to have the blessing of cancer. Your continuing prayers strengthen me. Praise the Lord in Heaven!

Hi po18guy , hope and pray that you’ll have a good end of the week , with not so much sickness and weariness , that you’ll recover after your last chemo and enjoy the presence of your family .
I’ll continue my prayers and you’ll be in all my Rosary prayer intentions ( I’m keeping 54 days novena , for many intentions , between my mom heart and kidneys condition ) .
Lord Almighty, I humbly pray that po18guy shall be healed through chemo therapy .
Everything is possible for You, Heavenly Father , please bless him and bless his entire family .
In Jesus Holy Name , through great intercession of Saint Peregrine and Saint Archangel Raphael ( the medicine from God ) . Amen

A Prayer for Sleep

Grant me a quiet night, O Lord,
and give me rest,
for I am tired and need sleep.
Watch over me with love
in the silence of night
and let me rest in you
like a child in its mother’s arms.
I place my trust in you,
my God.
Amen.
