Lord we thankyou for all the progress Frank has made and we are truly grateful to You for answering our prayers.We pray for all the wonderful staff who have been dedicating themselves to Franks care and I ask You to bless each one of them. I am praying for Frank that hw will be comforted from pain,that the Lord Jesus and the Blessed Mother will lead him to Heaven.

Frank has been making good progress in his recovery…he will be ready for heaven one day but not yet Benedict…God bless

Thank you all so much. This holiday time is a hard time for Frank, please pray that the good memories of past holidays will help him & that God will console him with the knowledge that next Christmas he will be back in the city of his family.

I know that you’ve been praying for me, for Martha & for my family. Still, I’m going to be selfish here & ask for some extra prayers. I am feeling totally overwhelmed & guilty at the same time. My own immediate family of 4 children, childrens-in-law & 8 Grandchildren have traditions of our own. For instance, the out-of-towner children & Grandchildren are still here for Thanksgiving, one Grandaughter who lives here (10 yrs. old) wants me to help her sew her own little Christmas gifts & she needs me right now. Her parents divorced last year at this time.

Christmas will last at least a week & I don’t know how I’m going to do all this & be there for Frank too. I remember this same feeling when I was still operating my store & my widowed Mother was fighting serious illness. If I was with Mother, I felt guilty about my customers. When I was giving them the help they deserved, all I could think about was “is Mother OK.”

Dear Lord, give me the strength to be there for those who need me & let the baking, gift shopping etc. take third place. I am so keenly aware that Frank may not be with us next Christmas. So please be with him through this season. Let him know that he is loved by his family & by You. I need to be able to drive the 120 mi. round trip to the VA, by myself. That way I won’t have to be dependent on rides. Let my husband know that it’s safe for me to do this. He worries about me, too much, as does my daughter.

Sorry about the rambling, but I’m really stressed right now.

O glorious Apostle St. Jude, true relative of Jesus and Mary, I salute you through the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Through this Heart, I praise and thank God for all the graces He has bestowed upon you. Humbly prostrate before you, I implore you through this Heart to look down upon Frank with compassion. Despise not my poor prayer and let not my trust be in vain. To you has been assigned the privilege of aiding mankind in the most desperate cases. Oh, come to my brother’s aid that he & I may praise the mercies of God. All my life I will be grateful to you and will be your faithful client until I can thank you in heaven. Amen.

Thank you ALL so much for your prayers. I’m feeling a little better today. I finally got Frank by phone last night & he sounded good…actually I think maybe his spirits are better than mine right now. I’m going to go to the hospital tomorrow to visit & get the news about his cataract surgery & HOPEFULLY, when & if he’ll be able to have his colostomy reversed. I think every day about you…the people praying for us. I’m not sure why Frank & I are so blessed with our CAF. "prayer partners. I’m just glad that we are.

Thank you Lord, for all the graces and blessings You have bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage. Our food and shelter, our health, the love we have for one another, our children, Grandchildren and a special thank You today for** my CAF friends & prayer partners.** Keep them safe & bless them for the gift of prayer that they give to so many people.
Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessing during this Advent season. Give Martha & I the strength to meet all of the holiday expectations of our families & send the peace & joy of this season to my Brother.
This we ask in the Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Brother. Amen.

Thank you all again. I got to spend yesterday with Frank & his spirits were good. I was spending time with family (children, grandchildren) & listening to Christmas carols & I guess my imagination ran away with me. Because I got so upset that he couldn’t take part in the holidays with us, I thought that he was upset too.

Imagine my surprise when I saw what was happening at the VA. hospital yesterday. When I pulled up to my usual parking lot, all I saw was vans of all makes & colors. As I walked down the long hallway on his floor, the community room, 2 large offices & the physical therapy room were FILLED with toys of all kinds, bathrobes, slippers, rolls & rolls of wrapping paper, celophane for gift baskets, etc. & PEOPLE everywhere wrapping presents. Frank met me at the nursing station (I always call from my cell phone when we are about 15 mins. away) & said, “I have all of my Christmas presents bought”. Veterans from all over the state had picked up those who are ambulatory & took them shopping. They also had had those who could not leave the hospital make lists of those they had to buy for & their sex & ages & purchased their gifts.

In all my 69 years, Christmas has been so special. However, I don’t know if I’ve EVER seen the true spirit of the season shown in such a way. I’ll never forget it.

Lord Jesus, I realize now that there are saints among us & half the time we don’t see them. They are here on CAF., they were at the hospital yesterday, buying & wrapping gifts to celebrate Your Birthday & to be a blessing to those who need them. Thank You so much for these “earthly saints” & help me to be more like them.

St. Jude, relative of Jesus and Mary, glorious apostle and martyr, renowned for your virtues and miracles, faithful and prompt intercessor for all who honor you and trust in you! Powerful patron and helper in grievous affliction, come to Frank’s aid & help all people who are sick in mind & body during this Holy season. Send special blessings to those who care for them & pray for them. You have received from God the privilege of assisting with manifest help those who almost despair. Look down upon CBCrawford & those who pray so faithfully for my Brother & myself; Bless the soldiers whose lives are full of crosses, and paths are strewn with thorns. My soul has been filled with discouragement lately, please help me realize that there is good in every situation. I will thank God for the graces bestowed upon you, and will propagate your honor in whatever way I can. Amen.
 
Well my goodness CradleCath your post brought a tear or two to my eyes!! How wonderufl thes staff at VA are and how blessed frank is to have you as his sister.My goodness what a lovely thing they all did as regards presents…some people are so wonderful in this world and as you say there are saints walking among us.Thankyou for sharing with us about your visit yesterday…I found it very moving! O Mother of the Word Incarnate, we are filled with confidence that your prayers on our behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God. Bring Frank healing, peace, courage and strength as he shares in the suffering your Son endured. O Glorious Mother of God, in memory of your joyous Immaculate Conception, hear our prayers and obtain for us our petitions.
