Prayers needed for my Husband

I started going to RCIA classes last year because of my husband. I was raised in the COG and AOG, and I had gotten him to church once… he told me he would never go there again. That he would only attend the Catholic church if he ever went back. I decided that since I was a christian… I could go and learn the Catholic faith, after all, if it would get him in church, then it had to be a good thing.

I finished RCIA and converted to Catholicism at Easter 2007. I brought people with me to the classes, and six of us (my friends and family) converted together. This year, we have 7 more coming to RCIA, CCD, and Mass. What an amazing number…13.

I’m asking for prayer for my husband because, he still doesn’t attend with me. He has been a few times, and he has went to several of the events (dinners, festivals, etc…) but he hasn’t went and made a confession. It has been about 30 years since he has made a confession.

Please pray that God will enter his heart and mind. That he will do more than “think” about going to confession and just get it over with. I want so much to be able to pray the rosary with my husband. I would love to see him put is effort into serving God. I love him so much…

Your husband is in my prayers Pam. We can all support one another in praying for our loved ones that no longer participate in the faith.
 
Thank you all for the prayers. I know God can work a miracle in my husbands heart.
 
My husband stayed away from the church for the first 20 years of our marriage. I prayed the rosary, and offered my mass intentions every Sunday for his return to the Catholic church. He now goes to church every weekend, and I am so thankful he found his faith because without it, I think he would have a much harder time dealing with his depression and other issues.

A wise and wonderful priest told me early in our marriage to never nag or preach to him. Only ask gently if he wanted to go, and answer his questions when he had them. I now pass this advice on to you. Never, never give up, but pray, pray and then pray some more.

Asking the wonderful members of this forum to pray with you offers that much more prayer for your intention.

St. Monica, pray for Pam’s husband to find his way back to his faith in the Catholic Church.
 
I will pray for the Lord to open your husband’s heart and mind to Jesus. :gopray2:
 
Merciful God of all, appeal to the heart of Pam’s husband, who loves you but fears that Your Divine love will not forgive him. Send forth Your Holy Spirit to reveal to him that You lovingly wait for him to be reconciled to You; that blessed peace, comfort and healing are his for the asking. Grant him the knowledge that You are with him, and love him, even in his sin. With Gracious blessing, whisper to him in the still of the evening, that he will respond with tears of joy in his eyes to Your beck and call. Rush to embrace him, Lord, as did the father of the prodigal son, upon seeing his beloved child returning from far away. I ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.

I never nag him, I ask him everytime I go if he would like to go with me. The answer is always no, and I never question him. I have talked to him about his need to make confession. He wants to go downtown to the Cathedral so that he can go in the “old” confessional box. So, I have encouraged that.

Once he goes back, he will tell you that you nagged him until he no longer had the strength to resist. That is precisely what happened with my wife and I. Afterward, she remembered NONE of it! 😃
