New site is now published for prayer in Latin: https://www.prayinglatin.com

It contains the largest and most compelling list of reasons for praying in Latin, as well as a large compilation of papal teachings on the Latin language, and an interesting history of the Latin Rosary. It has a section on how to pronounce ecclesial Latin as well as a section containing tons of favorite prayers and many powerful prayers in Latin as well as videos and sound clips of the prayers to help one learn and make sure they are pronouncing them correctly.

I think that it will be a useful site for those who want to learn their basic prayers, and can be a great supplement to those who actually take the time to look through it. I should warn you, however, that any threads on this site talking about the benefits of Latin quickly get overwhelmed by “tolerant progressives” angrily shouting that Latin is useless and backwards.
 
Not to mention ‘elitist’ and ‘unfair’ to the ‘average person’.

Note that St Dominic taught Barbarians to pray the Rosary in Latin. If he could teach Barbarians to pray in Latin, I think the “average person” should be able to learn those prayers if they actually tried or cared enough to do so.

On the Why Pray in Latin? website, after scrolling down to the bottom of the page where there is the option to Print/PDF/Email, once you clicked on any of these a new window pops up where the same option are at the top - the Print and Email worked for me, but the pdf option didn’t. Basically a smaller almost blank box appears, though in this box there is visible an ad - to skip the ad!. At the top in this box is a smaller box, which for half a second the option to download the pdf appears, but then disappears. Then nothing happens. Or at least that’s what happens for me.

Would be good if this could be fixed.
 
Thanks for the feedback. 3rd party app at the bottom. Print and Email seems to be working fine. For a pdf, click printer then select print to pdf as your printer, and that should suffice as a work around.

As a new site - it’s good . Hopefully over time you will grow the site to include other things by expanding the content. May God bless your endeavour and may it bear good fruit if this be His Will.
(I personally liked the prayers in Latin, and the option to save these as a pdf file to phone/tablet etc - useful for on the go, if a person didn’t have an app with the same.)

Thanks. What other content would you like to see or do you think would be relevant? Or are you saying just by adding more prayers?
 
I pray in Latin every day. The Angelus and St. Michael prayer, either the Rosary or parts of the Daily Office, etc. When I’m at the NO Mass I always pray the Last Gospel and Leonine prayers after Mass.

Gosh, there’s a lot of options there! Perhaps looking at other Traditonal Latin sites will give you ideas?

Step by step through a Latin Mass (with copyright free pics) perhaps as there are a lot of people who don’t understand it when they first go, and it can be off putting, as they can’t relate to or understand what’s happening or follow the Mass - even with a Latin/English missal in hand it can be hard to know “where in the Mass is Father up to?” (speaking from my first few experiences years ago).
Audio files on pronunciation of different words in the Mass perhaps?
Other prayers are always good.
 
So you cannot see the Latin Prayers without
downloading them on PDF?

I can see the benefit of pre-Vatican II when
everything was in Latin and I can also see the
benefits of the change to the vernacular after
Vatican II.

I would love to learn Latin and learn the Rosary and other favorite prayers in Latin.

This looks like a helpful site.

I guess I’m not average. I have a hard time remembering prayers in English.

BTW, I play piano/organ, and since childhood (I’m now 62), I have NEVER been able to memorize music. Ever. I actually used my music books to play for my college audition, and eventually, I ended up switching majors (from Music Ed. to Med Technology) because I simply could not memorize music (there were other reasons, e.g., wanting a sure-fire job after graduation!). My organ teacher (I started organ lessons about 6 years ago) didn’t believe me, and he did some exercises with me to try to help me memorize a piece–I couldn’t even remember how it started, i.e., what notes opened the piece. He finally gave up and admitted that something is missing up there in the ol’ brain!’’

I have passwords written down, and I constantly refer to the written procedures in my hospital lab, even though I have worked there for 28 years and have done those tests thousands of times.

I think there are others like me who just have a hard time memorizing things.

Has anyone tried to learn Latin with one of those programs like Rosetta Stone or Babel? If so please give a recommendation on the best one.
 
Just skimmed through it but it looks like a great site. Bookmarked it. I am working to learn to pray most of my prayers in latin.
 
I don’t quite understand the purpose of praying in Latin . I know it’s the language of the Roman Church and it was used for centuries before. I have studied Latin and I do even like the TLM… But still. I don’t think it pleases God any more or any less whether you say it in Latin or not. It just sounds a little better and makes you feel a little smarter and more cultured.
 
I thought the website did a good job of explaining why to pray in Latin (BTW, I don’t do so normally).
 
The print to pdf at the bottom is now fixed. Reported to the developer, and he fixed it within one day. Good deal. Nice feature too.
 
Good ideas for more content. I do have the prayers of the Mass, but adding some explanation such as is in the red books could be a good idea. Also considering adding a way to purchase those prayer books as well as Angelus Press 62’ missals.
