Thanks for this. I am learning latin on my own very slowly in my free time, this is an awesome bookmark to help me along my way. Much appreciated.
Holy hyperbolic strawman, Batman!I should warn you, however, that any threads on this site talking about the benefits of Latin quickly get overwhelmed by “tolerant progressives” angrily shouting that Latin is useless and backwards
It’s the internet. If we’re not aggrieved at all times, we don’t feel alive.Dude, that was like 6 weeks ago, and it was just a comment about how things usually go. Relax yourself
Pope St John Paul II Allocutio Libenter vos salutamus , 1978I would not make Latin mandatory. I would leave it as it is at many schools now, an option.
Which short one exactly?Short one?
Ah yes, modernism. I see…Back then. Not so much today.

Yes, Portuguese. And Romanian.Latin is the mother tongue of the Romance languages: French, Italian, Spanish and possibly Portuguese. There’s other Romance languages too but those are the ones I know.
There are actually a whole bunch of obscure languages spoken by relatively few people, such as Catalan and Waloon, but those are the big five.Thank you! I knew there were more languages.![]()
Certainly countless languages, but important to note that of them all, the only one that has received the most special blessing by our holy Church is Latin. It effectively undoes the chaos from the tower of babel by uniting all under una voce.Thank you! I knew there were more languages.![]()
