Well, it seems to be OK to pray in tongues during Mass if it is done silently.
Not only does no one know their pew neighbor is doing it but there is no reason for it to be wrong.

I also tend to pray in tongues during Adoration.

However, let me say this about tongues. They tend to make us a little lazy.
I am now working on excercises Praising and worshiping in english for extended periods of time.

We use to do this in the Charismatic Renewal a lot and often get where we could Praise and Worship the Lord for a couple of hours, out loud at Prayer meeting and all of a sudden we had not had a teaching or sharing and it was time to go home.

If you think this is easy, try it for even 5 minutes, out loud at home in private. I am working toward 20 minutes at the moment. It is an awesome part of a wonderful prayer life.

Too busy ?
Have you just bought some land and you must go and inspect it ?

Tell me, if you are up to it,
What is your reason for being in The Church ?

( I take it you are in the Church ?)

Is me starting my post off with “friend” insulting to you? The tone of your post has suddenly gotten aggressive.

My reasons for being in the Catholic Church are vast, and not something i’m going to express through\on this messageboard, especially to someone who is obviously edgy over (something…?)

Thank you for asking, anyhow.

He sounded rather cocky, not sure why though. An oddity. Maybe the tongue speaking had a part in it?? :hmmm: If that’s the case then I REALLY don’t want anything to do with it. 😉

I think some of us need to realize that the “charismatic movement” isn’t for everyone. Some people are really involved in it and some people aren’t. For some its the only way to go, for others they could care less. The most important thing is going to church, worshipping God, the Eucharist (not in that order), etc.

No one should ever have to explain why they are Catholic, Gusano, its quite rude to ask. Just because one is a member of the “charismatic movement” doesn’t mean they are holier than the next person. A severe reality check is needed here.
