It’s been a few days since anybody posted on this topic but I just discovered somthing that might be of interest.

Vatican Radio has the Rosary in Latin every day at 19:40 UTC (Universal Time Cordinated), broadcast live on the net, for me in Oregon, USA that is at 12:40 PM.

At the Vatican’s own Web site…?!? 😃

Of course !, Lion Heart!!

Now, why didn’t **I ** think of that?!?
😛

whoops! I calculated the time wrong…it was on at 11:40am Pacific Time today.

I love Greek, and recite the Lord’s Prayer in Greek everyday when I am alone. I don’t know Latin, but I do hope to learn it somewhere down the road. It is a very important Biblical language as well as liturgical.

I thought I was the only one! 😃 I haven’t got the whole thing down, but I love it. I’ve got the Ave Maria, and Gloria Patri, but had given up for a while at learning the other prayers. Must be time to try again. Thanks for this great thread.

This does look interesting, but for now I am getting into the habit of saying the Rosary daily in general. Still, I will keep this in mind for a ‘next step’ in my spiritual development.🙂

Brendan,

Does that holy Baby DVD have closed captions or subtitles? My daugther and I are deaf and hearing impaired, respectively. One of my problems with religious children’s videos and DVDs - usually not captioned.

My girlfriend and I have also been enjoying the rosary in Latin, and have even lead a group devotion.
Also, here is an online copy of the Douay Rheims Bible in English and Latin for those who like to do the scripture readings:
newadvent.org/bible/
And also in Latin here:

I like praying the rosary in latin in private. I have never heard it done in church and it would be nice because latin is the official language. I don’t have a problem praying in english either, after all - english is my native language and the best way I can express my thoughts in words to God.🙂

I am just beginning to pray the rosary and can do it in English. I really want to be able to do it in Latin- it is such a beautiful language! Got the Ave Maria down and am working on the Pater Noster. A little difficult because I never learned Latin, but I’m muddling through with pronunciation guides. A long way to go, but its fun.

I was at a seminar at Christendom College in Virginia and the students say every other decade in Latin…it was beautiful.
Latin is such a beautiful language from which many of our English words are based. In 1957 when I was in Germany, all the masses in Europe were in Latin…and I knew very well what was going on. It was universal language of the Church. Thanks to Latin we were all one. Now if you go to Mass in another country, you do not know what part of the Mass you are at. I am so greatful that the Latin Mass is making a coming back, along with interest in the language…

Thank you all for the interesting links. I have been checking them out and they are great. When I was in High school…I never thought I would want to see latin again…but it seems to bring some sanity into this crazy world.

That schedule does not indicate a daily rosary (but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one)

You can listen and pray along at any time through this page Vatican Radio.

I pray the Rosary some days in English and some days in Latin. Though, I must say, I do the Creed and the Fatima prayer in English because I do not have those memorized. I guess that is because of laziness. Sometimes I think that praying in a different language helps my mind to slip more easily into contemplation.

I occasionally pray the rosary in Latin. A carryover from pre-Vatican seminary days. It does not need approval and is just as efficacious as any other language.
