I say the Rosary in Latin every day! I started saying it when I was an atheist studying the Middle Ages, now I’m a wanna-be Catholic studying the CCC & Bible. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus…
If you know the hymn “Salve Regina”, this is nothing but the Hail Holy Queen in Latin.I love praying in Latin. I have memorized all the prayers of the rosary in Latin except for the Hail Holy Queen. But, now I have been saying it in Spanish instead.
I love praying in Latin, too. It is such a beautiful language. I’m learning Compline in Latin this year…I love praying in Latin. I have memorized all the prayers of the rosary in Latin except for the Hail Holy Queen. But, now I have been saying it in Spanish instead.
That schedule does not indicate a daily rosary (but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one)
You can listen and pray along at any time through this page Vatican Radio.
I recently did some detective work and discovered that, though the Rosary recordings are no longer linked from the Vatican Radio pages, they are still on the servers.Vatican Radio used to have it, but apparently no more (that is: not archived/“on demand” – They still have it on the live schedule)
Thank you, Deacon Ed.Years ago, the term “cafeteria catholic” (not capitalized on purpose) was properly called heretic. To be truly Catholic, one must believe all that the Church believes and teaches.
Yes!!A few months ago I heard a priest say on EWTN that he knew some small children who loved to pray the Rosary in latin and that if a child can learn it, so can an adult. That, plus seeing “The Passion” and hearing latin, were very inspirational. So, I took up the challange and, lo’ and behold, am discovering that praying in latin is a wonderful experience. I still pray the Rosary in English when in a group setting, but for private prayer its latin all the way.
I started learning with the Sign of the Cross (heard it a million times in the movies) and the Glory Be. Then the Hail Mary, Fatima, Lord’s Prayer, etc. Going to tackle the Apostle’s Creed next.
Anybody else here learning to pray in latin?
Ave Maria!
THANK YOU!!! :bowdown2::bowdown2:Read, See, and Hear How to Pray and Chant the Rosary in Latin
- For any of you who would like to learn how to pray the Rosary in Latin, as well as chant the Rosary in Latin, I would strongly recommend the following website, which appears not to have been mentioned so far:
What’s especially nice about this site is that it’s apparently put together by a layman who, like some of us here, became interested in praying his Catholic prayers in the official language of the Church, but who couldn’t find the type of resource it appears some of us are looking for. He’s done a very nice job.
- On this website, you’ll find (a) the texts for all the prayers, which should help with memorization, and also (b) videos with audio, which should help with pronunciation.
Anyway, I hope that helps for those who are interested.
Peace,
Timothy
