I got to return to my home parish tonight, and my pastor agreed to hear my confession after Mass. As my penance, he suggested that I pray to the Holy Spirit. I’ve wanted to grow in devotion to Him, but haven’t figured out how to get started. Any thoughts?
Remember, the Holy Spirit IS God! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity. You can pray to him and tell him anything! He loves you just like Lord Jesus and The Father!

Just because he’s a little more mysterious than the first two Persons (who are also infinitely mysterious!) doesn’t mean he’s anything less than God Himself. You can pour out your heart to him, tell him anything, tell him everything you are carrying, for he is God, worthy of being worshipped and adored and glorified.
God already knows what’s on our hearts, but he wants us to tell him about it freely and in true love and total trust. Only by our total openness to him do we invite him into our souls, and he fills us with his everlasting beauty and goodness.
If you don’t know what to say, then pray like this,
“Almighty Holy Spirit, I love you, and I thank you for your power and presence in my life. Please, enter my heart and fill me with your love and joy and beautiful holy mystery. Illumine my path to a clean heart. You are The Lord, the Giver of Life, as we profess. I ask to know your will, to receive the power and peace to always carry out your will, and to receive the clarity of mind to always live with the deepest gratitude for your blessings upon me. Help me carry the saving truth of Beloved Jesus into the world, to the glory of The Father, by your unfailing power, Amen!”
And remember, “amen” actually means, “I believe this so much that I stake my life on it.”
