Don’t be too hard on Kristof, he’s done a lot more than most of us bringing attention and aid to the genocide in Darfur, human rights violations in Burma, child prostitution in Cambodia, etc. His columns are a continual reminder of some of the worst injustices in the world. But you have to admit he has a point. If women have far more children than they’re able to care for, extreme poverty is unavoidable.
Great solution there, Luis.
NOT.
“The poor” should not breed beyond their means?
Just what Margaret Sanger said when she founded Planned Parenthood.
She went even further - the Black poor should not breed at all.
Margaret S. was BIG on eugenics.
Fact is, the poor have lttle means to feed and house themselves.
Add children to the mix and … oh well. TOUGH times.
Jesus said the poor will be with us always.
He said His kingdom is not of this world.
How are WE to serve the poor?
Jesus said we are to follow Him,
follow One Who was poor,
follow One Who was born into poverty,
follow One Who lived and died POOR.
To enter heaven WE are to
feed the hungry,
give drink to the thirsty,
clothe the naked,
shelter the homeless,
visit the sick,
visit the imprisoned,
bury the dead.
WE are to do those things.
WE are to assist the poor, love them, embrace them.
We are not called to limit or monitor their fertility.
You declare: “But you have to admit he has a point. If women have far more children than they’re able to care for, extreme poverty is unavoidable.”
No, Luis, I don’t have to agree with that “point” of his. His point is worthless.
My point is that the world is run by the wealthy, for the wealthy.
If they declare “extreme poverty” to be “unavoidable” for some, then that’s how it will be.
As usual.
We are to change the world, to teach Jesus, to bring all to the worship and love of God.
