Of “THE FIVE NON-NEGOTIABLE ISSUES” (saviorquest.com/news1/catholicvoters.htm) I cannot get past the first one, which eliminates any vote for Obama. Of courser, his attack on the First Amendment through the HHS mandate is strong enough argument to vote against someone whopse authoritarian rule smells more of monarchy than democracy.

- Abortion: The Church teaches that, regarding a law permitting abortions, it is “never licit to obey it, or to take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or to vote for it” (EV 73). Abortion is the intentional and direct killing of an innocent human being, and therefore it is a form of homicide. The child is always an innocent party, and no law may permit the taking of his life. Even when a child is conceived through rape or incest, the fault is not the child’s, who should not suffer death for others’ sins.
- Euthanasia: Often disguised by the name “mercy killing,” euthanasia also is a form of homicide. No one has a right to take his own life (suicide), and no one has the right to take the life of any innocent person. In euthanasia, the ill or elderly are killed out of a misplaced sense of compassion, but true compassion cannot include doing something intrinsically evil to another person (cf. EV 73).
- Fetal Stem Cell Research: Human embryos are human beings. “Respect for the dignity of the human being excludes all experimental manipulation or exploitation of the human embryo” (CRF 4b). Recent scientific advances show that any medical cure that might arise from experimentation on fetal stem cells can be developed by using adult stem cells instead. Adult stem cells can be obtained without doing harm to the adults from whom they come. Thus there no longer is a medical argument in favor of using fetal stem cells.
- Human Cloning: “Attempts . . . for obtaining a human being without any connection with sexuality through ‘twin fission,’ cloning, or parthenogenesis are to be considered contrary to the moral law, since they are in opposition to the dignity both of human procreation and of the conjugal union” (RHL I:6). Human cloning also ends up being a form of homicide because the “rejected” or “unsuccessful” clones are destroyed, yet each clone is a human being.
- Homosexual “Marriage”: True marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Legal recognition of any other form of “marriage” undermines true marriage, and legal recognition of homosexual unions actually does homosexual persons a disfavor by encouraging them to persist in what is an objectively immoral arrangement. “When legislation in favor of the recognition of homosexual unions is proposed for the first time in a legislative assembly, the Catholic lawmaker has a moral duty to express his opposition clearly and publicly and to vote against it. To vote in favor of a law so harmful to the common good is gravely immoral” (UHP 10).

Romney missed saying this, and perhaps should have.
Also, while it might not have fit in all that well into the American myth system and therefore seemed incredible, recent studies have shown that American women actually earn more than American men on average, if all other qualifying things are equal; equal education, equal hours worked, equal experience or lack thereof.

Monday’s debate is going to be very tough for Romney. When it comes to foreign policy, Obama’s administration is so non-transparent that Obama can invent almost anything he wants to say and Romney won’t be able to refute it. Obama could say (as an exaggerated example) that he has a deal pending with the Muslim Brotherhood whereby it will convert Egypt’s government to a totally secular and “equal rights” government; enter the war against Al Quaeda, and set up a special task force to protect the rights of Christians. It would be a lie, of course, but what can Romney say about it?
Jimmy Carter tried, at least, to do that by announcing the Stealth program; something Reagan knew nothing about, was a security secret up until then, and which might have been inappropriate to disclose at the time. But at least it was true. Obama does not feel constrained to tell the truth, which gives him an advantage.
I predict that Obama will absolutely do that sort of thing, as well as say something is too sensitive to discuss on air if Romney seems too probing into something embarrassing.
Romney is going to be like a cat trying to climb a polished marble column.

Want Romney to point out the fact that Obama had not been going to more than 1/2 of his daily intel meetings before the terrorist attack in Benghazi. Al Quada was supposed to have dissipated with the death of Bin Laden, 60 minutes did a program on how they have resurged; the cover up by the administration after the deaths of 4 US citizens died in the Middle East; Obama’s relationship with Israel; Obama not calling Egypt an ally then his admin correcting that and the state department saying it is
Obama has had big foreign policy failures and this will be exposed by Romney. Obama’s foreign policy success have come when he followed Bush’s policies. In some cases some have given credit to Obama for building on the policies he inherited. Obama campaigned critiquing Bush’s foreign policy. Obama said it would undo it all. Romney should say Obama said he would withdraw the Iraq troops in 16 months, that took much longer. Then candidate Obama said he would have unconditional talks with Ahmadinejad and close Guantanamo, those ideas where jettisoned after months of failed effort. It has gone poorly with the Israel - Palestine peace process, elevating climate threat to be on comparison with terrorism as a national security threat have made no progress

Gallup came out with a poll that said most important issue for women was abortion which I am struggling to believe
I do not believe that most women worry at the kitchen table about being able to get contraception and abortion. Obama has spent months using this as an attack on Romney and now Romney and Obama are equal with women in the swing states so that attack has not been successful
