Q: Your mission is that you have precisely one person to get out of office to avoid damage to the Catholic Church. You have a number of choices to accomplish the mission. Which choice is the one most likely to accomplish the mission?

A: ?

NOTE: There is only 1 right answer. This is a pass-fail test.

If you don’t realize the consequences of failing the test yet, please see post #91 which should make it clear.
There’s only one person in office, so there can be only one answer.

However, you are entirely wrong in your premise. Obama is not doing any damage to the Church. He may be subjecting us to some mild persecution, but really, deal with it. I can take it. Frankly, I think he has done far more good for the Church in this country than anything. Look at how much more cohesion we have than before, how much more people have been smacked in the face with the Church’s teaching on birth control, etc. Your complete aversion to the uncomfortable, mild level of persecution is embarrassing and cowardly and is no excuse for abandoning your morals on election day.

Catholic Bishops on Obamacare Reg: ‘Unprecedented Attack on Religious Liberty,’ Even Jesus Wouldn’t Qualify as ‘Religious’

It’s true. He preached to non-Jews. That’s a violation of rule #3. And he wasn’t tax exempt in the Roman world. That’s a violation of rule #4. For that matter, he healed peoples’ illnesses, which is a violation of rule #1. Jesus wouldn’t even qualify for a religious exemption to Obamacare.

So, you admit you are not 100% faithful to the Magisterium and the Holy See? You say we should accept mild persecution by the Obama administration? You also believe Obama is not doing any damage to the Church? Are you really Catholic, or only when the Vatican accepts your views of the Church-state relationship?

You just answered one of my questions. I’m wondering how seriously catholics are taking this threat by the IRS and the HHS. I can see you don’t take it seriously at all. Just remember that if things start closing down and you don’t like it.

The more I read this post, the more I dislike it. To claim that Obama is “not doing any damage to the Catholic Church” is delusional. The HHS mandate threatens to close or financially cripple record numbers of Catholic charities and hospitals if they elect to pay millions of dollars in fines for refusing to subsidize abortion and contraception. If they offer the controversial insurance coverage, these same Catholic institutions must violate Church beliefs to remain in business. Both alternatives hurt the Catholic Church in America.

“mild level of persecution”

So mild level of persecution by an elected president is ok by you? That is fine. It is not ok with me and many others.
Many times in history there has been great persecution that was preceded by “mild persecution” because not enough felt the “mild persecution” needed to stop.

…I wonder why tuition is so expensive…).
Because educrats need to join a union and work on projects that have no intrinsic or market value whatsoever, the football team needs a new stadium every so often and they’ve got fly to people to bowl games at a net loss and universities are more like country clubs for the academic and political elite.

And what do the alumni do?

Keep on giving donations and remain silent when their taxes go up.

Education is so expensive because of student loans that raise demand. Without that demand, tuition would have to be way lower. If we didn’t have guaranteed student loans, people would be more creative about how to get their education and maybe we wouldn’t have more student loan debt than we do credit card debt in this country.

Because education isn’t education anymore in this country. It’s training. And we do it very, very inefficiently. And insist that people take classes that are pointless just to bolster up the system and pay for all the new buildings we build for the sake of competition with other campus’s buildings. It’s all ridiculous. It’s an industry.

Know Tampa Dave has posted already but reposted here so we can keep track of polls in 1 place

Ohio poll: Romney leads 51-48 among those certain to vote
No problem. The more places its posted, the better. People have to realize that the Ohio polls reported by the press just don’t make sense. The 3 counties encompassing Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland are truly liberal bastions; the remaining towns, villages, burgs, hamlets, and townships in Ohio’s remaining 85 counties are more conservative.

To play devil’s advocate though… you have no reason to vote FOR Romney. All you are doing is voting against Obama.
If you think I don’t have reasons to vote for Mitt Romney you are sadly mistaken:

Punish China’s cheating in trade

Americans have a moral duty to uphold the sanctity of life and protect the weakest, most vulnerable and most innocent among us. As president, Mitt will ensure that American laws reflect America’s values of preserving life at home and abroad. ~ Mitt Romney
Stem-cell Research
Quite simply, America cannot condone or participate in the creation of human life when the sole purpose of its creation is its sure destruction. ~ Mitt Romney
Marriage
Marriage is more than a personally rewarding social custom. It is also critical for the well-being of a civilization. That is why it is so important to preserve traditional marriage – the joining together of one man and one woman. As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act – a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton – but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman. ~ Mitt Romney
Put it simply, my apprehension to Mitt Romney wasn’t his “issues” it was if he was going to commit to them or just saying them to bargain the Conservative vote. The NAACP speech and this weeks debate has overwhelmingly answered my question. Mitt is a true solid Conservative! This General Election, Mitt didn’t shift to the center to pander Independent votes, he shifted to the Right and promoted Conservatism…the last man that did that was America’s greatest President Ronald Reagan. I am now convinced without a doubt that not only is Mitt Romney a Conservative, he’s the next Ronald Reagan to save America from its demise once again. I was an “Anybody but Romney” since the get go…now*** I can proudly say I am a Mitt Romney supporter.***

I’m donating $25 to Mitt now and buying a cap…even though I really don’t have the money because I am convinced without a doubt, Mitt is the man who will save this country like Ronald Reagan did back in 1980

Go Mitt Go!
May God be with you and guide you to victory!

I bought the blue Romney ball cap. My daughter took it back to Ohio State and, in fact, wore it to a Romney rally just outside Columbus a few weeks ago.

You have a daughter at Ohio State huh? 😃
Indeed I do. Being an Ohio native, I was delighted that she selected Ohio State for her undergraduate studies. Its a great school and I’ve been a Buckeyes fan since I learned to walk. I’m going to the OSU vs Nebraska game this Saturday night. Go Bucks!

I see you’re from Columbus. Great town! We are spending most of Sunday at the German Village. Should be fun.

We used to live in Cincinnati (1991-1997). I love Ohio. 🙂
