It’s just that given the history, the lukewarm support of pro-life measures is not enough to overcome their rabid pro-war views, the horrific economic views, the record on civil liberties, and the like, I don’t see the reason to give them my support.
AMEN!!! They use their “sham” of an excuse to get elected and then decimate our country and cut funding to the poor. I’m a social worker and things get scarce for my mentally ill and mentally retarded clients when a republican is in office.

The not-Romney voters will rue that day if the president is re-elected.
No I’ll breathe a sigh of relief for the poor, the handicapped, and the children who would have had a lot of their PBS funding cut (which amounts to a whopping 2.00 a year per taxpayer–it’s like cutting your toenails to lose weight)

Right. Because Democratics did such a great job advancing civil rights during the 19 and 1860’s.

No, wait…

We’re the brokest nation in the history of the entire world. One plan is to raise taxes and increase spending. The other plan is to keep taxes the same and cut spending.

Which makes more fiscal sense to you??

Sorry if I’m making too much sense.

What part of $16 trillion of so in debt don’t you understand? It’s 72% of our GDP. EVERY SINGLE man, woman and child in this country owes $45,939, or $183,756 for a family of four. That $2 is part of the larger picture, a debt run wild for bills we can’t sustain.

If PBS is such a great deal, let private individuals contribute. I’d rather teach my own children, and save the $$$ than saddle my grandchildren and great grandchildren with our current greed and addiction to government.

Don’t you know, scipio? There’s an endless supply of money if we run up the credit card and use it to fund programs for the “poor”! School breakfasts & lunches for the hungry obese kids, contraceptives for grad students, and… Big Bird on PBS! For free! That’s much more important than trying to stop the legal slaughter of the unborn. Liberal Democrat catholics don’t make sense.

Ishii

No, you try to keep a rogue country led by radical Islamists from developing a nuclear weapon and using it to annihilate millions of innocents in Israel. Or do you think that the country whose leader said he wants to “wipe Israel off the map” be in charge of a nuclear weapon?

Ishii
  1. The Ayatollah has said that the possession of nuclear weapons is a grave sin.
  2. Iran does not even have a nuclear weapon.
  3. If North Korea is not stupid enough to use a nuclear weapon, what makes you think Iran is?
And besides, the fact that the government of Iran wants a nuclear weapon, whether or not that is true, does not justify the attack of the innocents in that country.

Well not so fast there. 😉 I don’t support any type of government welfare.

You seriously offer up the TSA guys at the airport as an issue of similar moral gravity to millions of abortions? Are you aware that Romney doesn’t want to impose any kind of federal healthcare system such as Obama care but allow states to decide for themselves what system they want?

" Sorry millions of unborn - but I am more concerned about the TSA guys at the airport, economic sanctions against Iran, drones and don’t think Romney will go far enough to cut spending even with Paul Ryan as vice president than voting to help protect you all."

Is that what you’re saying? Correct me if I’m wrong of course.

Ishii
I will correct you for being wrong. I had a whole list of issues, you only focused on the one that you thought was nonsensical, focused on that, and said it was laughable to compare that to something as awful as abortion. That’s a straw man.

No one has a problem with Big Bird being paid, its just after 40+ years of being on welfare maybe he (she?) should get a job.

Leave Obama in office another 4 years and see how short funds get.

The same with Romney, who thinks we don’t spend enough on the military. About 25% of the US budget goes to the military, and that’s way more than some of the biggest countries of the world COMBINED.

Hatred of Ron Paul much?
Since when did criticism amount to hatred?

Why is it every time when someone says something critical of the “venerable” Ron Paul, automatically you are assumed to be: a hater, a globalist, or a “neocon”

Don’t like the man: yes
Hate the man: Sorry no, I’m annoyed by Ron Paul, but I don’t hate him.
I’ll note, just so we’re clear that my mention of Ron Paul in my post caused you to respond with 293 words. I mentioned him in passing, in parenthesis, with 3 words (like Ron Paul).
Oh my must be a Bilderberg Conspiracy…I used 293 words…quick someone call up David Icke to run the numbers! 😛
Hatred of Ron Paul much? The man was my 3rd choice in the primaries. Yet it seems the mere mention of his name will coax a vicious personal attack on the man’s character out of you.
Coming from a guy who trashes Romney with bold accusations such as “attacking the Church” and “forcing the Church to sin”

Is this a case of Pot calling the Kettle black? :hmmm:
  1. I never called Tom Tancredo honorable. I know what he said about the Holy Fazah, Pope Benedict. I said he was honest. He didn’t just join the Constitution Party out of political convenience. That’s clear in the 6 videos that you evidently did not watch. He became a Republican again because in his words “it’s the only game in town”, and he’s right.
Okay I misquoted you, you only called Tom Tancredo honest. I apologize.

However the man was a Constitutionalist for ONE YEAR…sorry you and Tommy Tancredo cannot have your cake and eat it too.
  1. Don’t think you don’t like Virgil Goode? That’s seriously news to me in regards to your last post. In your last post you put him in the same boat as -]Judas Iscariot/-]!!! cough Benedict Arlen… es’cuse me. Well… ec’cuse me.
First off, you used the words: Benedict Arlen and Judas…not me

Second, you can agree with a man’s points and find them in error
You’re the one asking me. And my answer is: No, he is not. Do the research. He’s not. Don’t lump him in the same boat as Benedict Arlen. Changing parties shouldn’t be the “be all, end all” of how to judge the convictions of a political candidate. And yet you are making it be.
No nothing wrong with switching parties, but calling a politician who switched from GOP to Dem and stuck with it, a Benedict Arnold…and defending politicians who flip flop every 2 years is nothing convincing.
  1. FYI, rolling your eyes is rude. Is it charitable? No Is it condescending? Yes.
My eyerolling is in response to your hyperbolic, histrionic comments.

Not so much. 19% of the 2011 budget goes to the “Department of Defense”. While it may be convenient to lump all of that into “TEH MILITARY!!!”, those figures include military retirement, ($141B out of the DoD’s $740 Billion in receipts), Homeland Security/TSA ($48 or so billion), counter-terrorism budget for the FBI, and even some NASA projects.

And even if we cut all of those funds to $0 (and let our vets starve), we’d still be operating at a big defecit.

So where else will you be cutting spending, hmmm??

Legalize all the drugs and tax them :whacky:

Gary Knell (former head of Seasame Workshop, now NPR head) salary in 2009: $956,513.

PBS part of the 1%!!!

Big Bird has a lot in common with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: they’ve been in “public service” their entire lives and have somehow wound up as multimillionaires.

Cut all social welfare as well. Cut the military, cut welfare. That’s about 75% of your budget.

So what do you say to the people who have paid FICA and Medicare taxes all their working lives and those currently on Medicare and SS…“Sorry?” 🤷

After thinking about the whole “War on Big Bird™”, what on earth does Sesame Street do with it’s merchandising sales receipts?

Surely they’ve sold enough “Subsidize Me Elmo” dolls to keep the gravy train rolling for a few years.

The government is broke. Sorry.

I would also say that we should cut taxes, especially capital gains taxes so that people can provide for their own retirement.
