This is the key, though–when you are pregnant. This stuff goes on when she is not pregnant (although, it is worse when she is pregnant).

Funny you mention that—we ARE getting rid of the cats. I can’t take their shedding and litter tracking any longer. And it isn’t fair that they get caught in the middle. Yes, I agree–people and marriage are WAY more important than cats.
I apologize if this has already been mentioned. It is dangerous for pregnant women to clean cat litter boxes. I can’t remember the disease that is passed along but I know your wife should not be doing this one chore.

Of course if you’re getting rid of the cats, that would take care of the problem (how can you get rid of the sweet kitties? Uh, I didn’t mean that. I just put it in because of the comment about animal lovers.)

I know you are probably aware of this, but Marla (the FlyLady) was in an abusive marriage, which was part of the reason for her depression and lack of interest in her surroundings. She’s such a great inspiration, for getting out of that marriage and working to improve her life.
Of her two predecessors, the sisters who were the Side-Tracked Home Executives, one realized that her marriage had been like Marla’s, and got divorced, but the other sister saved her marriage and was much happier in it. (If memory serves correctly, though, her husband’s boss was so bowled over by the change in the couple’s home and the wife’s grooming before and after the re-organization that he mistakenly *thought *his employee had gotten re-married!)

The OPs wife may find their marriage much more rewarding if she gets organized, too.

Nope, nothing quite like that has been said yet!

:clapping::yup:👍

Love it!
No offense–that post was the worst one out of the 120-130 some odd posts on this thread. He basically said I should put up with the behavior and not complain about supporting my family and doing about 75% of the household chores. Actually, I was the OP coming here with the gripe and he seems even more angrier than me. I think he probably has issues of his own, which is why I just ignored it.

The litter box thing is BUGGING ME… 'cause the OP brought it up. He has to do all this work EVEN the litter box. And it bugs me, 'cause I think VERY FEW people actually know how dangerous it CAN (not always) be. I wonder if his wife has a clue either?

Finally, OP, do you live in a house? or apt? Do you cats go outside? If they do, there should be NO litter box IN your house. They should be trained to go outside. Of course, and outside cat can also contribute to the above problem. So you wouldn’t want to START that now.

Our Father, which art in Heaven
Hollowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven

Give us this day, our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us

Lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Amen

Oh my Jesus
Forgive us our sins
Save us from the fires of hell
And lead all souls to Heaven
Especially those in most need of thy mercy
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our deaths
Amen

Glory be to The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
World without end
Amen

He DOES have bigger issues. He’s been alienated from his family because of his wife somehow.

I get where this guy is coming from. I suspect I had a similar reaction to your original OP. And later your confirmation that is JUST ABOUT HOUSE WORK and absolutely nothing else. It’s hard to imagine. But perhaps your family truly qualifies for one of those “reality” programs of horders, or kick a path through the living room clean up shows. 'Cause yeah, I could NOT possibly live in filth and piles of trash and stuff to my waist.

I think many of us wish housework was the ONLY problem we had to contend with in our lives. I could knock that out in an hour a day, and live happily ever after. That’s for sure.

Yeah, we know that pregnant women can’t change litter boxes. We are getting rid of our cats anyway. No, they are indoor cats—we live on the first floor of a house. Frankly, I would like it if they were outdoor cats; however, it is sort of a moot point because we are getting rid of them.

:DThanks, see…I am praying for you;) Enjoy that lovely young family of yours:curtsey:

That’s good. I find when I’m cleaning house that more than half the time, I’m picking up after something the cats did - why they need to throw up on the most expensive furniture is beyond me; ours have the option to go outside, so I don’t know why they can’t just go outside to do that stuff. I’m constantly disinfecting something.

I know that my house will stay a lot cleaner once the cats are finally gone. I think anyone who has trouble with housework to begin with, should not own any kind of pet; not even a fish - they are so much work to clean up after, all the time - and of course they always pick five minutes before Daddy gets home to knock something over and make a big mess.

They say pets help you to live longer, though. (Is it really longer, or does it just seem like it? :D)

You definitely get your exercise, running after them and bending over to clean up after them all the time. 😛

Yeah, it’s probably harder to lay down and die if somebody keeps standing on your chest, licking your face, and making you feel needed, too! 😃
