Not all gay people, or gay people at church, run around announcing they are gay.
You’ve probably got them at Mass with you weekly without knowing it.

Exactly! I think the issue is where some people want to flaunt their sexuality in church. If not, who would know/care?

Yes, and they should feel welcome. We also have women who have had abortions. If a parish found an old banner supporting the right to abortion, even if it had a cross on it, ESPECIALLY if it had a cross on it, they have a right to burn it.

Our argument is not with gay people, but with mostly heterosexual people, who are backed by the political, media, and corporate establishment.

I don’t think this has been shared yet but my apologies if it has been. It’s an interview with this priest while in hiding giving his account of what happened:

But we only identify “gay people” in a unique way. Everyone else are just people, regardless of their vices.
You’re right. Catholics, like others, have shown bigotry towards gay people. The prejudice has lessened, but still exists.

This Archbishop goes beyond lessening that prejudice. He is if not supporting, at least compatible with, powerful groups that oppose Christian teaching.

The previous archbishop reached out to closely related communities CURRENTLY under attack, those who support traditional marriage, and prolife. The current cardinal has not reached out to them.

Since we are discussing the Natural Law here, and today is the first day of 40 Days for Life, it is noteworthy Cdnl Cupich opposed 40 Days for Life in his prior diocese. In his current assignment, he invited a speaker (Natalie Imperatori-Lee) in who has strongly supported abortion clinic “escorts”, those who “protect” women from evil prolifers outside clinics, so they can “safely” get to their abortion.

Exactly. Unless they go around being demonstrative of their sexual orientation, who will know or care? But for some, just keeping it to themselves isn’t enough. And it will never be enough, for some, until the Roman Catholic Church goes the way of TEC, the UCC, the ELCA, etc. and performs same sex “marriages” in the Church.

Of course the day that happens is the day the RCC will schism asunder.

Rightly so.
Not according to the Catechism.

Fr. Kalchik is obviously upset, but controls it well. He certainly speaks with conviction and reasonableness.
If his account is true, in particular the recounting of the effort to force him into St. Luke’s against his will, then the Archdiocese of Chicago hierarchy needs a thorough housecleaning, starting at the top.

Fr Z reported this too- he claims on his blog that a number of conservative priests have been committed by their bishops of late… I don’t know what to think of it.

I’m not going to get into a debate about Scripture interpretation in this thread… but for what it’s worth, when Uganda passed legislation to execute homosexuals a few years back, the law was strongly condemned by the local Catholic Bishops. There are countries where homosexuality carries the death penalty and it is not the practice of the contemporary Church to hand gay clergy (or others) over.

I gives me chills. I pray that this is investigated and, if the Fr. Z article is accurate, that these priests will be released from treatment and the bishops involved be reprimanded.

Before jumping to conclusions, keep in mind priests have gone through hell on Earth for about 15 years or so, in the US. This is the time period of the major scandals, added to horrible over work due to priest shortage.

If I were a priest it may have pushed me over the edge long ago.

So this priest is giving interviews with Boris?? I’d say this is a sign he needs treatment.

I don’t think that most gay people run around announcing that they’re gay. Instead, they are just open about their sexuality in the same way that straight people are open. They are now more likely to bring their same-sex spouses or partners with them to family gatherings, office parties, churches, etc. If they go to a church together, they might enter together and sit together in the same way that a straight couple might do. They might introduce their partners to others in the same way that straight people introduce their spouses to other people.

One Mad Mom doesn’t like it either.

Actually, if it’s accurate I think the police might as well get involved. Not sure how that would go over with the ideological backdrop, but I’m sure there’s some criminal activity there.

To be fair to St. Luke’s, here is the other side of the story:

The problem with this very public referral for (name removed by moderator)atient mental health is that if he goes, for the rest of his life everything he does will be discounted. After all, he IS a mental patient.

I wonder if this is to satisfy the statement from the liberal church coalition, which appears to be led by groups opposed to Catholic teaching. Does the cardinal respond so rapidly and forcefully when prolifers raise complaints?

Does the Cardinal demand the same liberal churches punish offenders or send them for treatment when ministers support abortion and same sex marriage?
