Not all gay people, or gay people at church, run around announcing they are gay.
You’ve probably got them at Mass with you weekly without knowing it.

Yes, and they should feel welcome. We also have women who have had abortions. If a parish found an old banner supporting the right to abortion, even if it had a cross on it, ESPECIALLY if it had a cross on it, they have a right to burn it.Not all gay people, or gay people at church, run around announcing they are gay.

You’re right. Catholics, like others, have shown bigotry towards gay people. The prejudice has lessened, but still exists. But we only identify “gay people” in a unique way. Everyone else are just people, regardless of their vices.
Actually, I used poor wording. It isn’t that parishes call out “gay people” as different; they themselves want to be recognized as such. You’re right.

Rightly so.Catholics, like others, have shown bigotry towards gay people.
I gives me chills. I pray that this is investigated and, if the Fr. Z article is accurate, that these priests will be released from treatment and the bishops involved be reprimanded.I don’t know what to think of it.
Before jumping to conclusions, keep in mind priests have gone through hell on Earth for about 15 years or so, in the US. This is the time period of the major scandals, added to horrible over work due to priest shortage.Fr Z reported this too- he claims on his blog that a number of conservative priests have been committed by their bishops of late… I don’t know what to think of it.
I don’t think that most gay people run around announcing that they’re gay. Instead, they are just open about their sexuality in the same way that straight people are open. They are now more likely to bring their same-sex spouses or partners with them to family gatherings, office parties, churches, etc. If they go to a church together, they might enter together and sit together in the same way that a straight couple might do. They might introduce their partners to others in the same way that straight people introduce their spouses to other people. Not all gay people, or gay people at church, run around announcing they are gay.

One Mad Mom doesn’t like it either.I gives me chills. I pray that this is investigated and, if the Fr. Z article is accurate, that these priests will be released from treatment and the bishops involved be reprimanded.
