I remember that thread Max. And with all due respect, you were actually quite rude to Fr. Ruggero on that thread. You made your points quite abrasively yourself. Not one of your finer moments, I must say. šŸ˜³
Did you really think you knew more than him?

Youā€™d be a bit harsh yourself if you ad to put up with the high level of really uninformed and uneducated postings regarding Church history and peopleā€™s re-writing of it.

I donā€™t blame him in the least.

To be fair, I donā€™t see anything wrong with his responses on that thread. I think some posters were taking what he said out of context - he didnā€™t say what youā€™ve claimed.

That was back in the Wild West Days of yesteryear when the Liturgy subforum was ā€œEnter at your own Riskā€.

Fun times.

There are quite a few who claim to beā€¦most I assume are legit, based on their (name removed by moderator)ut, a couple I wonder aboutā€¦seems they know the ā€œbooksā€, but from their pastoral perspectives I still wonderā€¦ but it is undeniable that this is a social media website, and any of us (myself included) may not be who or what we present ourselves to be.

Fr. Ruggero very patiently explained and supported the Churchā€™s recent commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Churchā€™s recognition (in 1983) of Martin Luther as ā€œWitness of Jesus Christ," and the Churchā€™s decades-long ecumenical efforts with the Lutheran church. Several CAF members behaved badly in threads about these.

I see that Fr. Ruggero last posted on the day before Ash Wednesday. Maybe he took leave for Lent?

With the snarky comment above about those pseudo burka wearing types is just one exampleI find anti trads are the norm here on Caf. They are very patronizing and condescending. They attack hose they disagree with. Sad to see very bitter people here.

Where is that? On this thread, or somewhere else?

That is the attitude I see towards members of the clergy who are brave enough to post here (not your attitude, but by some other posters here).

Yes, the 7th post in this thread, snarky comment implying trads in burkas.

ALL the priests have come off as slightly abrasive at times. Given what they have to put up with, I can understand why.

One time on this new forum I tried to tell some jerk to lay off Fr. David, and my posts were the ones that got flagged and deleted while the jerk was allowed to continue telling Father he was all wrong.

You canā€™t win on here.

What about those of us who arenā€™t pro trad or anti trad or pro or anti progressive and just want to live our faith and experience all of what our Church has to offer?

Iā€™m tired of feeling like I have to pick a side, and tired of everybody on both sides getting het up.

That seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle. Agreed we have gotten polarized. Unfortunately, the trend is the wrong way.

Well it still hasnā€™t been addressed the disrespectful comments towards trads which is the norm here, right in this very thread even. I am not even a trad or agree with them always yet I notice this. A lot of jerks do not get banned on Caf and they are seasoned members from way back.

People here complain about disrespect towards Caf priests, yet no one speaks out when someone posts something disrespectful about a bishop who doesnā€™t post here, and who happens to have an opposite opinion compared to the supposed Caf posting priest. The double standard are palpable.

Yes. Those of us who just consider ourselves Catholic have to constantly wade through the reptetitive arguments regarding communion in the hand, modesty, veiling, etcā€¦ Let each person be guided by his/her own conscience and allow others to do the same.

With all due respectsā€¦While I can emphthize with your discomfort, is Fr. David or any priest other than the Holy Father infallible on issues other than faith or morals? If i recall, most of Fr Davidā€™s comments deal with canonical issues and liturgyā€¦dissent is healthy to allow those not intimately involved in the discussion to gain understandingā€¦and i would dispute this makes them ā€œjerksā€.

If the priests arenā€™t posting here much anymore, I assume there is a reason. I am wondering if this shouldnā€™t be a lesson to those of us that thought coming here and participating would be edifying to our faith journeys.
