He’s not. All we are asking is that priests obey their superiors in this matter.
Nobody here has required more.

Good.
You are mistaken.

Read the full thread. There are posters in this thread who think a priest/religious should be in their clerics/habit all the time.

That is more than the pope wants (according to the Code of Canon Law) and more than is required by my superior, rule, and constitutions.

If our brother does wrong, we are commanded by Christ to bring it to his attention and to rebuke him for it and tell him to correct it. This applies even to laymen correcting priests. Some laymen have even corrected popes for their bad behaviour. Yes we must put our own lives in order first. But that does not mean we cannot make any criticism of others until we outrselves have become living saints.

Yes because whether or not priests obey this rule affects us the laity and even affects non-Catholics and non-Christians. It’s not just a personal matter between the priest and his bishop or the pope.
And how do you know if a priest is following the “rules” or not? The only rule in the Code of Canon Law is that they are to follow the established norms of their Episcopal conference in this matter. The only requirement I know is that they are to wear it while ministering. Some bishops encourage or require more, but how you would you know that? How do you know what is in the rules/constitutions or what a superior of a religious order has said?
THIS IS A MATTER OF DRESS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! How is this for fraternal correction: you are not as holy as you think you are. Stop holding yourself up as some kind of spiritual paragon.
Amen!

I like that calendar, Nuns having fun. They do everything in a habit. bowling, sking, dancing, running, amusment parks, bocci ball, exercise, cooking, etc. this generation of religious could never keep up with them.

Why does everyone insist on not paying any attention to the canon law and directives of the USSCB quoted earlier. It is stated quite clearly what a priest should wear in public. 🤷
Actually, I was wondering why self-important laity seem to think it is their business to concern themselves with the wardrobe of priests.

I believe the question has been answer and its becoming a rant on either side, even though canon law and USCCB seem to cover the norms. What the bishops prescribe take precident over the USCCB anyway, but the point is that some of you have become belligerent towards the clergy involved on this thread. Unacceptable behavior for a Knight.

May God grant you the direction we need and give us the humility to accept the difficult answers we receive. Knowledge is a powerful thing, but sometimes it provides us with answers we do not want to hear.

Thanks for the discussion, but I’m unsubscribing now.

I don’t think I’m important, but if you think my comments on the dress of priests are too strong, you should see what I say about the dress (or lack thereof) of the laity in church in my country!

Further evidence that you need to be less concerned and judgmental about where others are spiritually. Not everyone is in the same place, and thankfully, God meets us where we are at and draws us to Him.
