**‘Pro-Choice Catholic Politicians’ to Be Sued for Heresy

(CNSNews.com) - A group of Roman Catholic Canon Law experts and theologians plans to sue several more pro-choice Catholic politicians for heresy.

De Fide, which is Latin for “of the faith,” said it will hold a press conference on Monday to update the ecclesiastical lawsuit it filed last June against Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.).

The group also said it will detail “new denunciations for Heresy, Sacrilege, and Scandal” to be filed against Senators Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), Susan Collins (R-Maine), and former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, a Democrat.

Documents pertaining to the heresy cases will be released at Monday’s press conference in Washington, and canonical forms “inviting Christians and non-Christians alike to join in the class-action ecclesiastical lawsuit against all of the above-named parties” will be available, De Fide said.

Marc Balestrieri, a canon lawyer and director of the Los Angeles-based De Fide, said the heresy complaints stem from the Catholic politicians’ support for the civil right to choose abortion.

“Under Roman Catholic Church law, support of abortion rights constitutes the “Right-to-Murder” Heresy condemned by Pope John Paul II in the Encyclical Evangelium Vitae of 1995,” Balestrieri said in a press release. “Automatic excommunication is the penalty incurred for this offense,” he added.

Balestrieri says an “expert theologian” contacted by the Vatican has confirmed the doctrinal merits of the heresy cases.

Isn’t Joe Biden Catholic??

Arnold and Rudy should get their act together too…

YES. Hypocrites should be expulsed.

Also expand this to include judges and lawyers for excommunication.

These guys know what Church teaching is:mad: If they want to publically scandalise the faithfull and slap The Church in the face, then they ought not be surprised if they get reprimanded.God Bless

These politicians have already excommunicated themselves from the Church by their support of the abominable crime of abortion.

For the Bishops to officially recognize the heretical and evil state of these men and women is the very ‘least’ they can do. Not only for the souls of those being led astray by the politicians but also as a call to these heretics to repent.

Yes, they must be excommunicated because they are bearing false witness against the faith by publically voting for abortion. Many of our non-Catholic brothers and sisters judge us and our faith by these poor representatives of the faith. If they would publically apologize for their pro-abortion stance and stop voting that way, they could still remain in the Church (at least that’s the way I understand it.)

“Heresy? I didn’t expect a sort of Spanish Inquisition!”

“NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!”

I love Monty Python.

The excomunation for this people is necessary, the church have to be the mirror of the truth, greetings

This should not include only politicians. Anyone who speaks out publicly in favor of abortion should be included.

Gee, maybe we do need tort reform after all! 😃

These guys tried this last year and got the cold shoulder from the Church. Heck, I can file a heresy suit tomorrow againt Karl Keating. i don’t know if the moderators allow internet gambling, but I’m willing to offer a little betting action that these suit go nowhere.

I don’t see where Karl Ketting has done or said anything that amounts to heresy:confused: As for the polititions:mad: If they are not in direct rebellion in the teaching of the Church I don’t know who is.It is bad enough to risk losing your own soul but in their position they are leading others into the same fatalistic mentality. If they truly love the Church then they will do the right thing and recant and denounce attacks on the unborn.God Bless

i think they should be counseled by their priest/bishop and forgiven… if you threw everyone to the devil that didn’t practice what they preached, i dare say we wouild be short a few in these forums, and i am not excluding myself… casting stones in glass houses is a dangerous thing…

splinters and timbers my friends, splinters and timbers… pray for those you perceive as outside their faith… spend more time looking at youself in the mirror instead of looking at someone else through their window…

And those with the responsibility for the suit against Senator Kerry have not seen any reason to try him for heresey. Case closed.

Publically declaring that he supports the “right to kill the unborn”,real nice Katherine.Voting against the ban on partial birth abortion:mad: Promising to protect the murder of the unborn, please.

What is wrong with holding these politiicans publicly to account? After all, they take their rabid dissention of Catholic teachings to the public, why would it be okay for them do that, but wrong for Catholics to publicly call them on their clear dissent?

Catholics can publicly cal them anything they want. The Church has not accepted these calls for a heresy trial. Case closed.

Not quite closed. Archbishop O’Malley has yet to rule on the case. If he rules in the negative, or choses not to rule, the appeal goes to Rome. Cardinal Ratzinger to be specific.

Since here in the good old US of A Roman Catholicism is not the state religion why would any politician or other for that matter convinced of his rightousness give a fig if he is sued in a church court. No monetary damages so whats to be gained. In my opinion some of these Canon Lawyers don’t have enough to do. They need as my kids would say “A Real Job.”

At issue is not money, but excommunication. To devout Catholics, being exiled from the communion of the faithful and being denied the Sacraments is a bigger deal than money. As some of the politicians are CINO, you’re right, it probably wouldn’t matter to them. But if they took their faith seriously, it would.
